So seeing as many of us have probably played or been part of the Playstation series for quite some time I have a question for you all. Did anyone else get the original Playstation that had a screen on it?

I'm asking because I remember staying up late with that thing and playing the crap out of Spyro and Silent Hill, which scared my pants off back then. I still recall when I got the thing, I was elated to the fact that I had such a cool console that I could use easily in my room, and one of the best parts was that none of my other friends had it which made me the coolest kid on the block.

A PlayStation with a screen on it? Nope. I had the original PlayStation 1 that had a pretty bulky build. I did spend a lot of nights playing the console while in front of the TV screen. The concept of a console having its own screen was okay back in the day but I think that it would no longer look good today since we already have handheld consoles, smartphones and tablets which are more portable than a console with a screen.

Yeah, I bet today's handhelds could probably crush the old PS1 with the screen in almost every aspect. But I will still admit it was a pretty darn cool thing to not have it in the living room plugged into the tv.

I remember how cool I thought the screen was, but I never had one myself. I thought it was cool when they started putting TVs in cars, too, but now it doesn't seem as impressive as it did then. My first TV was really tiny, and I have absolutely no idea how I played games on that thing when I can barely make details out on a screen that's 4x bigger.

I am one of those who didn't find the playstation-with-screen appealing. I actually hated it. It was so small. But at that time I still haven't realized it was mainly for portability. I never had so much problem when it comes to me playing on the big tv so I never found the use of the ps with tv.

No, I never owned the PlayStation 1 with the screen on it but I always thought it was pretty cool or at least, the novelty factor of it was. When I look back on it now, I couldn't imagine playing it, at least not as a main gaming system. One thing I do wonder though is if those things are now worth anything as they could be seen as collectors items.

I've just heard about it recently while watching video game videos. I would have loved to have something like it back then too, especially since it was a console that had games and graphics miles ahead of the current standard at the time. If you still have that console I bet it costs a good amount of money now, and if you hold on to it longer I'm pretty sure it will only appreciate in monetary value.

I have a PSOne that I got in October, 2000. A month after it came out. They came out September 19, 2000. I got my first PlayStation in early-mid 1999 and Spyro the Dragon was my very first game I ever played. It was the very first one that came out in September, 1998 and I still have all and play it to this day!
