Problem Setting Up PS4 With My Sound System

My PS4 and all of my HDMI cables work perfectly.
All the HDMI Ports are clear and working.
The Playstation, when hooked directly into the T.V. works perfectly (with any of my HDMI cables).

The set up I desire, which is PS4>RCA Home Theater>T.V. has worked in the past for my computer and my PS3. I'm using this set up to type with my computer right now, and I use it every day, I'm familiar with it, so its not like i mis-plugged anything. When I set it up the way I want it, all that happens are some white lines that pop on and off the screen, generally no sound or visual otherwise.

I tried pretty much every combination of the PS4's Sound and Display options, but I was met with no success. I feel like the answer is simple, but I'm not grasping it.

Again, all I get is a black screen with every now and then a white horizontal line popping on the screen for less than a second. I am feeling that perhaps my home theater is somewhat outdated, but then again, it works with a lot of other things.

Any advice would be welcome! Also, worst case scenario, does anyone know of a budget friendly surround sound setup/home theater set up that DEFINITELY works with the PS4?

Thanks in advance,

Well how are you running sound and video? Are you using 2 hdmi cables from your reciever or 1 hdmi and an optic cable. What are your sound and display options set to. How many HDMI inputs does your tv have. Also if you remember on the ps3's if you took your ps3 from a high def tv to a standard def and then plugged it back into the high def tv you would get a blank screen because the system defaulted to standard definition. On the ps3 you had to hold down the power button for ten seconds and then choose the hdmi setting when prompted. Have you tried doing the 10 Sec rest on the PS4? Lemme know

Sometimes also you have to turn the audio setting off on the tv itself to utilize a reciever. Ive never heard of hooking up a lap top to a reciever and then a tv but im not a PC gamer so idk how that works but switching all these different medias around on your reciever is probably defulting it to some setting that wont work with a ps4.
