PS Vita 2.61 update just released.

Another day and another update. The 2.61 update, which is mandatory to play online, supposedly improves software stability and that's it. What Sony isn't saying is that the 2.61 update also patched an exploit in Arcade. Once again Sony has slammed the hacking door shut on us. To bad...all I really want is a few emulators.

The update is just to fix the exploit, I bet there's no such thing as "improved software stability" going on. Not that I care, but it's annoying having to download another update and not seeing a fix for a lot of the Vita's issues like the screen turning on when charging, the "Starting Downloading" freeze, etc...

I can confirm that it did not fix the "Preparing to Download" glitch. They are probably just trying to crack down on the exploits. They did the same thing with PSP Firmware updates in previous years. Granted, it didn't do much good in the long run with the PSP, but it's always their goal to fight that stuff.

Hoping for an update soon with PSP/PS1 Screenshot support.

Yup. All the well-known issues are still there, but the exploit was patched up. No big deal, since this update was released so soon after 2.60 so I doubt anyone expected any big fixes now. Plus, it's good that they fight the exploits and don't let the system become another PSP.

This is true. It has only been a few weeks since the last update came (which I really liked, to be honest.) Fighting the exploits is definitely a good thing. They've already got devs not developing for the system for one reason for another. The last thing they need is to have someone throw in exploits and enable piracy like the PSP did. Just another reason for developers to not want to develop for the system.
