PS2 Memories!

I wanted to mirror themarksquared's idea on memories. He did one for PS1 so why not create one for PS2, the most successful gaming console!

I remember personally everyday literally begging my parents to let me play on it as I had quite strict set times that I could play on it as a kid. The TV in my parents room was where I would normally play it and as night descended I would be upset as I couldn't play it anymore.
Favourite game moments probably when Kingdom Hearts 1/2 were out and I would wake up early to play it with my brother as we both sat together going trhough the game. Something we really bonded on for our love of Disney and cool Final Fantasy characters it was the ultimate game.

Hopefully you all share your memories too!

I remember when we had first gotten tekken. I remember when my uncle and my cousins would just sit in the room and just play the game for hours and hours. I really liked playing with Eddie man I thin that that guy was the greatest thing that had ever happened to that game. That was the only reason that I used to go by my grandmothers house on the summer vacation.

Having being a fan of Medal of Honor on PS1 I could'nt wait to play MoH Frontline.
And man, was'nt the opening scene impressive? (for the time anyway) The beach landing scene almost ripped straight from Saving Private Ryan.
Unfortunately once you started on the beach you found you could'nt go left or right very far, fences and barriers in your way lol so the the landing zone was very narrow indeed ..lol
But overall the game was great at the time.

The first PS2 game I have ever played was Dynasty Warriors 2. It sure was one hell of a difficult game at first, since you would be smashing enemies with your strikes and blows. When you get crazy, you will unleash your Musou mode against them. But most interestingly, what struck me the most is that this is another of Koei's creations as I only know of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy game on the PS1, also by Koei. I loved playing RTK on PS1, and thus I have appreciated the Dynasty Warriors games even more.

My first games were Oni and something called Evil Twin or Dark Twin or something like that...

To this day, my favorites on the system still are Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 and Persona 3 and 4. Persona 4 makes me feel particularly nostalgic, despite having playing it more recently than either MGS game.

Ico is quite nostalgic too, though the speedrun trophy in the HD version made me insane.

I had some great times with the PlayStation 2, it is by far my favorite gaming console of all time. I must have spent thousands of hours playing the PlayStation 2 and I don't regret one second. I will always remember the PS2 and all the joy it brought my friends and I.

I used to play GTA: San Andreas, that was probably one of my favorite games for the PS2, I spent hours upon hours playing it, not even just doing the story but just exploring everything and purposely getting in trouble by blowing up cars and stuff. It was a blast (Literally, haha)

My most memorable PS2 moments were playing Tekken with my buddies until the sun came up and also watching my friend who got addicted to God of War finish it multiple times. Also, it was the console where I first got introduced to Burnout which is one of my most favorite video games of all time, and one of the few that I actually wanted to reach a high score at because I never really cared about high scores until then.

The PS2 was a 'proper' console. You wouldn't believe how happy I was for months after buying it. It wasn't over-complicated like today's efforts and simply played games very, very well - the whole point of a games console. Sony simply refined the successful formula that made the original Playstation so popular and best of all, it was backwards compatible. It was all neat and tidy and the way forward in my humble opinion. No need for expensive re-purchases or having to dual-wield consoles like today…

By the time I retired it for the PS3, I had an enormous gaming collection of which I'll never likely see again. I filled not only three whole shelves but close to the whole top quarter of my wardrobe also. Thanks to a house move where we downsized (and loosing some in the process…still a mystery), this collection is now not even half the size it used to be.

I still have my PS2 with what's left of my old collection. However, I have no where to actually hook it up to or the physical space without disconnecting other things (I'd like to reiterate my point over backwards compatibility here…). As a result, it's not been run for years…

I had GTA: San Andreas, but I never really got on with all the gangster business and protecting of 'territories'. It drove me nuts… It's the only one that I've completed and never went back to afterwards.

I think the PS2 is probably the best console ever made, I have so many great memories from playing it.
From spending way too many hours playing Blitzball on FFX, to again way too much time on the Tony Hawk series, especially Underground, passing by Vice City and San Andreas, it's very hard to pick a best moment, but I have many great ones.

Love all of the responses and I do believe that this was the best all time console. I loved playing on it and have a ton of really happy and not so happy memories.

My first few memories were with the games Star Wars: Starfighter and Seek and Destroy. Because I didn't have a memory card for another MONTH I couldn't save but I kept getting better and better at going through the games faster :P These days I play Starfighter on my PC now but I wanna get another copy of Seek and Destroy SOOO bad.

Bully, GTA San Andreas, Yakuza 2, Def Jam Fight For NY, NFS Underground 2 and Carbon, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and Undergound 2, And,is silent hill 2 fond to anyone?
