PS3 Cost?

How much will the PS3 go down in price now that the PS4 is out? I feel like most of the time I am let down by the price drop since it usually isn't that significant. Wondering if I should fork out the money for one now that PS$ launched.

I imagine it won't go down in price any time soon as I think Sony will be concentrating on the PS4 for the next few months. But if you were looking to grab one now, they seem to be fairly priced. You could always grab a pre-owned console if you don't want to fork out a lot of money. It depends which kind of PS3 you want. 12GB, 250GB, 500GB, Slim, Super Slim, etc.

I think it would not be decreasing any time soon, I expect this price to keep up for at least another year, as the PS3 console is not yet as outdated as the PS2 was when PS3 was released. If I were you, I would wait a few months and snatch up a PS4.

At 200 bucks, the 12GB PS3 is pretty affordable. Unlike the PS4 which is very unreasonably priced at amazon. If you want to purchase a PS3, maybe it's better to do it this Christmas. I think that the department stores would provide a discount in order to increase sales. If you want to purchase a PS4, I say wait until next year after all this hiatus is over.

You can probably find one on craigslist or ebay for pretty darn cheap. Or just get a used ps3. I recon about 150 to 200 bucks and such.

I would guess it will drop in price later next year. The PS4 is still very new and hasn't completely taken over yet. When more people have PS4s already, only then will they start to drop the price of PS3s I assume.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. Although I still am unsure whether or not I'll be able to afford a PS4 in a few months. I think I'd wait a year, which seems to be when the price will drop a little, for most consoles.

In the recent cases I have come to discover that it is like it takes a year before a game drops its price in the event of another being launched. So as you said the prices may 0nly do down sometimes next year. which is a bit hard to tell when it will be meaning you would have to wait for more than eight months before you can get one.

The lowest you could probably get one right now is around 100USD, either from eBay or a friend who's getting a PS4 and is willing to get rid of it. New retail PS3s seem to go for around 200 at the moment, varying on the model and the place you buy it from. If you really must get one, either wait for the Christmas sales, or for the price drops once the dust settles down.

My experience with Craigslist has been a little weird. The past few times that I have made transactions the people have made me feel uncomfortable with how sketchy they were. Craigslist would be perfect if they could just ship you the stuff, but would take away from the "local" aspect of it, I guess. Would you recommend buying something like a PS3 through Craigslist? Have you purchased or sold a console on Craigslist?

I suggest you to go to gamestop or eBgames because craiglist is FILLED with wierd people and I don't suggest you to use it unless you are experienced with it.

Personally, I have experienced very weird stuff on craiglist and I vow to never use it again.

Craigslist is a very dicey place if you don't know what you're doing, but can also be remedied by being smart. If you're making a transaction, either selling, or buying, do so in a public place near a lot of people. If the person randomly changes the location last minute, back out of the deal because it's most likely going to go south. Always use CASH, and remember to always tell them up front that if you're selling, there will be no refunds. I recently sold my gaming computer off craigslist, and it was the first time doing so. I was nervous, but I also was well prepared in case they tried to do anything. Made sure to have a friend over, and even though they showed up with their wife/girlfriend, I made the other party stay in the car. Also, you're bound to get the system far cheaper off Craigslist then you will at GameStop, since GS is a rip off these days.

POWER TO THE PLAYERS! My behind.

Amazon or eBay is the best bet for a decently priced PS3. Sometimes they run under $140 used. I'm not too sure about Craigslist, it always seemed a little shady to me since it relies mostly on trust between buyer and seller.

Pssf to GameStop.

lol GameStop.

I understand people being weary of getting a used console online, but with stuff that came out in the previous generation, there's nothing to really worry about...for the most part. Now getting consoles from this generation? It's a mixed bag, you know.

I used to be cautious of Amazon, but man those prices are tempting. Full retail price for anything is usually repelling and makes my wallet shrivel.

You can pick up a brand new 250 GB slim PS3 in the UK now with four decent games (GTA V, Fifa 14 etc) for £250. Pretty decent considering the titles, but before the PS4 launch, that'd have been a lot higher. Guessing the price will just drop and drop over time now, especially in 2014.

The price will like drop as more titles come out for the PS4, plus different stores will decide to shave some off of the price on their own.

Of course as time passes it's going to go down even more. I don't think it will go any lower than $99 though. I remember back when the PS3 came out the PS2 was $99.

If you're tying yo save money, just look for a used one, you can get one for like 100$, from people who bought the PS4 and want to get rid of the old one.
