PS3 Cost?

I don't think we'll see a massive drop in the PS3 price until around mid next year. However I did remember seeing the PS3 in Asda going for around £150 --> £200 which is a rather decent price.

If you're tying yo save money, just look for a used one, you can get one for like 100$, from people who bought the PS4 and want to get rid of the old one.

I actually saw a used one for $120 on Amazon not to long ago and neighborkid up the street is selling his for $100 plus games. Kid's got the PS4fever bad, man.

Yeah it's at quite a nice price now. People that are looking for a all in one media device, bluray player etc will look at the PS3. Plus anyone that's wanted to give a few games a go can finally get it at a good price.

I think it will be cheaper again, just not yet.

It will go down in price, but probably not for a little while as it's still a pretty good console to have at home. It's really popular, and I reckon a lot of people will be buying the PS3 because the PS4 has only just come out - hasn't been out long enough.

Used is the best bet if you want the PS3 lower in a reasonable time or something.

Yeah, retailers have it for pretty low now, but thing is "pretty low"...not actually "low". Like SpaceTiger, Mauricioq, and yourself said, you can find it for an even better price used and have enough left over for games at the price of retail low. Of course, we're talking online retailer used and not GameStop "used".

Unfortunately I don't think it would be a financially viable decision to wait on the price dropping. I say that you should buy it while it's still popular so you can get the fun out of it while it's still in its prime!

It's still best to wait on the PS4 later in the first year. Than getting it now. When you enjoy the PS4 only really matters when it comes to certain online games and if people are still hanging around and playing them. Beyond that, you could pop up in year three or four when PS4 would really be in its prime and enjoy it.

...the "next gen" games we usually see at the E3 prior to the new console releases are the ones to draw people in and keep them around with promise of even better ones in the future--the second half of a console's generation cycle--when stuff really gets serious.

The price of a new PS3 will start dropping now that we have moved out of the Christmas season and the new PS4 is out. Start looking for sales in January and Febraury, but the more significant sales will be over the summer. They will really be trying to offload them at Christmas time in 2014 and by January 2015, you should be able to get one for little to nothing. It's crazy how the retail cycle works, but they base their sales and price cuts on buying trends. If you can get one when the buying trend is off, then you can get a better price.

You can totally get a used PS3 for like $150 on ebay now, and there is always buyer's protection if you don't get your package, or if it doesn't come as described; you get a full refund, so there is little to no risk whatsoever.

The prices are already starting to come down some. Especially in the arena of used units. Newer ones will come down over time, a little bit at a time, until the PS4s start coming down in price. and then you will see some significant movement. Right now there are a lot of people balking at paying the price of the PS4 right now. Its kinds crazy but that's the way it worked when the PS3 came out.
