I heard somewhere that the gap between generation isn't So much graphics but memory,. Is that true latter down the road could there be Rpgs 4x size of skyrim?
I think you are talking about RAM? The 8GB RAM PS4 will actually make games even greater and more excellent!
Developers absolutely needed RAM as the PS3 has 512MB that I think.
If you are talking about 500GB, âs I think it will change a few things in games, but you can install many more games on the console! The space is really important because the HD games will weigh a lot!
8GB of RAM is definitely an improvement. High end PC's usually have a minimum of 8GB so the PS4 is making a step in the right direction. As for RPG's 4 times the size of Skyrim we can already do this but they won't be seamless, for example LA Noire has like 4 CD's to use with it. More RAM allows us to make these seamless worlds without any loading screens or changing discs between them.
I think the graphics will only have minor improvements, seeing as they are so good already that the next big step is already 100% realistic, probably. As far as the power and speed, I'd agree and I do guess that it will be significantly be improved, since that area tends to improve and evolve really quickly.
The new RAM standard will definitely allow for bigger games, but it'll probably be a year or two (at least) before we start seeing it used to its full potential. Developers have to get dedicated to it and accustomed to it before we actually see anything utilizing all of it.
