PS4: 100 games expected in 2014, console “generally sold out”

PlayStation 4 is pretty much sold out globally, Sony has said, with new supplies inbound shortly – and necessarily, since the platform is expecting about 100 new game releases this year.

The news comes out of a closed doors PlayStation media summit today, with the official PlayStation Twitter confirming the figure. SCE America marketing boss John Koller said Sony is aware it has to keep stock levels constant, commenting that the PS4′s launch isn’t like previous PlayStation product releases.

What’s to come is those 100 games, I guess, but as for what we have now: Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4 are the three best-selling games on the platform to date, and Assassin’s Creed 4, Don’t Starve, and NBA 2K14 are the most popular Remote Play titles for those with a connected Vita.

100 new games!! I guess that settles the debate of whether the PS4 came out too early.

Now if only we had a list of those 100 games to wet our appetites

Yea it was quite the task to find one, but I conveniently work close to a Gamestop and they sent me a text the morning the got them in. So 100 games huh? Wow. I'm going to need to apply for a loan...

Will these 100 games be on disc, digital download, or both? How many will be AAA titles vs Indie? I am very curious to see.

I must have been stupidly lucky to get mine if they're all sold out, I didn't bother pre-ordering or anything.

Surprised 'only' 100 games are expected this year, I guess a lot of the indie devs still need time to learn this next gen stuff.

I'd like to know that as well. If a significant amount are exclusives that would be huge of PS4.

I could see a number being exclusives. The amazing thing wouldn't be that there are a 100 games coming out, it would be if half or so were coming out of Sony.

If half or even a quarter of that 100 were just from Sony that would be massive. As to Haze's pondering on how many will new franchises and exclusives, I see a few being exclusives and maybe half being new franchises with less than half continuing and being an actual series.

That would be crazy if 25% to 50% of that 100 were Sony exclusives/done by Sony.
