PS4 box art revealed?

The reason I put a question mark at the end of the thread title is because I'm not sure if this is old news or new. Just found this today and the article it originates from was posted today (Sony reveals the official PS4 box art -- PlayStation Universe). Anyway, here is the official box art for the PS4:

Very similar to the PS Vita game cases, and that is not a bad thing. I personally like it. Then again, I know it's just box art and doesn't really matter much, but still.

This actually looks pretty similar to every other case when they release. Not really a fan of it in my opinion, and I think the Xbox One box art is significantly better than this. Whatever though, it's just the case, all I'm really interested for is the actual game and gameplay.

Yeah, i really like the PSVita look, with that clear sky blue gradient. Let's just hope that the side of it has custom art for each game other than just normal text.

I really like it, actually. I like the PS3 box design, too, but mainly because I'm used to solid (or at least semi-solid) colors and it was a big leap for me. This one looks a bit similar to the Xbox One design, but with a different color, of course. It may not really matter that much, but it does mean a lot to me personally because I really value aesthetics.

It looks nice, but it looks a little too plain for me and from afar it would look too much like just another Blu-Ray movie. I wish they would get a bit more outrageous with their packaging and overall design, but I suppose the whole clean and neutral look is very prevalent now, just hopefully we grow out of this phase soon, since I personally would like for these companies to start being a lot more risky again.

Well, box art is important when it comes to marketing. It should be able to catch the eye of potential customers. If Sony just releases some generic box art for its games, sales could be affected. Though I'm a gamer and box art doesn't mean much to me, I think it does to other customers like kids for instance.

Pretty cool, I definitely like it! Seems a bit similar to the ones before, but I don't mind. Seems a bit sleeker now and I'm all for aesthetics. +1 from me.

I like it. The blue does add some nice color to the box art and when I think about it, it reminds of the cases for Blu-ray films. Also like someone stated, despite what people may think, box art does matter because it gives people an idea of what a game is about. In addition to that, sometimes the box art alone may be enough for someone to give a game a chance. I know when I was younger, I decided to play so many games based solely on the box art.

I also think it will look a lot different in person. Right now it looks pretty much the same as Blu-Ray cases, but I bet in person it's a darker shade of blue and a little less intense. One thing I never really liked about Xbox 360 games is how they look downright nuclear.

It looks very much like a blu-ray movie box..

and i think it is supposed to ..

ireckon they'vemad it like that so that the games and DVD's in your collection will eventually get mixed up and you have to read the spine to know which disc you're going to put in..
Seems really off to do that though, making it the same colour..
Some people might get confused but what possible harm could it cause, if any?

could be that they've done it like that as the blu-ray 'blue' kinda stands out and makes you look like you're 'in the VIP club' when you're buying one..

i dunno, just rambling with a few questions. :)
