PS4 edition will be the same as Xbox 360 version.

The developers of the console version of the popular sandbox game have confirmed that the gaming code will be the same across all consoles, that's PS4, PSVita, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Also, the game will be launched cross with at least the Xbox 360's title update 13 equivalent.
Knowing that the Xbox 360 version of the game is way older than the current PC version, why would anyone bother having this game on PS4 if they have access to a PC?

I guess its for people who don't have a PC then! It seems like Minecraft sells like hotcakes regardless of what console it comes out on, people are going to buy. I'm not one of them, but hey.

The only reason I will get it is because my laptop is pure garbage and runs MC real slow or otherwise I would stick to PC.

This is me exactly. My laptop is great for schoolwork and simpler games like Don't Starve or the occasional casual flash game. If I want to play minecraft, I have to turn all the settings on low and make sure I don't have anything else running in the background. It would be so nice to be able to play the game as it's meant to be played, with full graphics and effects.

I thought it was confirmed the worlds would be bigger etc? I assumed it would run the same engine. Is it the same exact game? At least the 360 version has texture packs now.

I was hoping for something to distinguish it from its previous-generation counterpart. Oh well. It's the kind of game that they can release updates for anyways, and if the popularity of Minecraft is any indication, we'll be seeing just that.

I don't have it yet, myself, but I'd rather get it for the 360 because of the price. I do think it's a game best played on the PC, though. It's certainly not unplayable on consoles but it's really just a matter of preference.

It's probably for people who can't play it on the pc, due to the requirements.
Minecraft is quite heavy despite it being just pixels, with so many updates by now it really needs a powerful computer to run it smoothly.

MineCraft is one of the few games I just don't get why people would play anywhere but on PC (and that's tough for me to say coming from a console guy).

Perhaps being able to play it on a bigger screen or just liking 360/PS control?

I had this on a relatively old and full Apple mini, and it slowed it down significantly. I think having games strictly on consoles is better for situations like mine wherein I mostly just use my computer for work and would rather me and my nephew kept our gaming to consoles.

The one thing is the kid factor. Every kid in the I know is playing the 360 version. It is so easy with 4 player split screen and game invites and such. This is why I prefer the 360 version. The PC version is better, much more up to date and has mods but supporting those mods is a pain in the neck with all the updates.

I got into Minecraft on the PC and never felt the need to change and try it on the consoles. Though I do know that it's done very well on the 360. I prefer the PC version because of all the updates and my community so the consoles have never appealed to me. I think the consoles are for more casual players who aren't going to spend hours building and well mining for things.
