PS4 exclusives vs Xbox One exclusives

Again, a lot of people were buying the PS3 for Linux. That's why there was such an issue of them dropping it, and the fact that they were suddenly recalling a selling point. It only takes a simple google to find a ton of people complaining about it, and it isn't just the Airforce posting on those forums. The homebrew scene got smashed because of Sony getting upset, which upset a great many people, and not just the people that were hacking their PS3 for free games.

Well unfortunately a lot of people talking on forums in no way proves they bought the PS3 just for linux. Correlation is not causation. Besides that, the PS3 quarterly sales charts show comparable sales before and after the firmware update that stripped Linux. The PS3 followed the exact same sale trends as the 360 throughout that whole year.

Really, a ton of people and reports saying 'I bought this thing because they said I could do this', and Sony getting sued multiple times for it doesn't mean that they bought the console for Linux? Gee, you're right! It's all just a myth! Not to mention the fact that people have went out of their way to create a whole new firmware update with the express purpose of re-adding Linux to PS3. And I don't know where you're getting your figures from, but the sales dropped after the firmware update in 2009.

So, yeah, people were buying the PS3 with the express purpose of installing Linux onto it.

I never said it was a myth. In fact I agreed that it sold to more to businesses. I said that I didn't think many people bought the PS3 just for Linux. You went from saying many people bought it "just for Linux" to saying many people bought it "for Linux" and finally saying people were buying it "with the express purpose of installing Linux onto it." Which is it?

The firmware update was in April of 2010, not 2009. The following fiscal year the PS3 sold more units that it ever had before. https://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/data/bizdataps3_sale_e.html

I know people sued Sony and I know people were upset. I know all about the homebrew community and custom firmwares. That has nothing to do with people buying a PS3 just for Linux. Besides, if people really were buying it just for Linux, all they had to do was not update and they would be fine with their overpriced Linux machine.

In light of your "Gee, you're right!" sarcasm, I would like to apologize to you for any hurt feelings. I'm not trying to make you mad. I just think you need some more solid ground for stating that many people were buying the PS3 just for Linux. You put another forum members words in my mouth. It wasn't the Army it was the Airforce. It wasn't 2009 it was 2010. You don't present any figures while claiming mine are wrong, and your best argument basically amounts to "people on forums said so." To top it off you've done it all in a very smug demeanor.

It's obvious you were trying to jump in on "someone else's debate." You can talk more about forum chatter and people getting sued, using sarcasm and snippy remarks if you want to, but I am done with this conversation. Sorry to the OP for ruining your thread with this nonsense.

I wish both console brands would have made a partnership and developed some great games for both consoles.

For me, personally, I prefer the PS exclusive titles rather than XB1's.

Hated Halo, never been arsed about Gears and Crackdown, and as for Titanfall, the supposed saviour of the XB1, well it just looks like Halo and CoD had a baby.

Games that I've desperately wanted to play, such as Uncharted, Heavy Rain and The Last of Us swung my decision in purchasing my PS4. Those are the games I want to play but missed out on being a 360 owner.

But like I said, it's down to personal preference. ;)

I've never loved Halo anyway. My favorite exclusive was RDR, which also happened to be on both consoles.

Sony actually has genuine 1st party developers in house whereas MS pay devs for exclusivity!

Check out Metacritic guys (I can't post a link as am such a n00b!) PS4 has 24 games rated at 75% or better vs XBones 12 and a lot of these are indie game exclusives.

PS4 wins easily!

That is an interesting fact.

However. I often wonder is the significance of exclusive games are blown out of proportion. Honestly, how often do you actually play those games? If those exclusives were so great. People would not be complaining about the lack of games out for the system.

I agree the PlayStation wins, but does it really matter? What is Sony actually gaining? They are still under enormous pressure to release more games. I do not think that it matters. One game is not going to make someone buy an entire system.

Of course they matter. For example, anyone that loves anime fighters (BlazBlue, Guilty Gear) and niche jRPGs (Persona, Disgaea) would obviously side with Playstation because these games are becoming more PS exclusive than ever.

As a duel console owner, who loves both consoles just as much, this sort of conversation is pretty hard to quantify as frankly we all have our own personal tastes and preferences that are different to the next. What i like will be different to the next person, but neither of us are actually wrong :)

IMO ( don't hate me ) at this very moment i think the XB1 has better exclusive games. ( i said don't hate me please!!! LOL ) But then i love hack and slash games and RYSE fills that need very well on Xb1 side with nothing to compare that to yet on the PS4 side.

I also like my FPS shooters, and although Titanfall isn't the most deep game, it's stupendous hilarious bundles of fun and WORKS! You can't say that about the broken BF4 game. I also like driving games and Forza 5, although not as deep as Forza 4, is again actually supurb!

But the thing is this is just me. I love hack and slash, shooting and driving from time to time, others may not.

This will be an ever changing view to be honest because as soon as SONY release a new god of war game, or Uncharted, or The Order, my evaluation of "who has the best exclusives" will instantly change. On paper, SONY will have the vast majority of exclusives that for me and my tastes, will mean i prefer them. I love what ND, Santa Monica, Quantic Dream and That Game company, do, just as much as what Turn 10, Respawn, or Remedy do... but until we see games from all these developers, it will be hard to crown a winner just yet...

All i will say is, it's actually GOOD for SONY if MS DO come out will wonderful games, as strong competition drives the other to excel and not get complacent. Graphically for example, Santa Monica with god of war, are going to have their work cut out if they are going to beat RYSE.

This is a marathon everyone, we can't really crown a winner with any authority for a couple of years yet. I have to say though if i was a betting man.. i would put my money on SONY even though i prefer the XB1 games at the moment.

The Last of Us is one exclusive game that dwarfs every single game listed for Xbox.
Quality over Quantity. Game Console over Advertisement Center. PS4 over XBone

I agree with you to some extent, but exclusives can be a reason someone buys 1 console over the next. My GF bought me a xbox and I returned it for a ps2 just because of Gran Turismo and I didn't buy another console through that whole generation. I also bought a PS3 near the end of its life just so I could play infamous, uncharted, GT, etc.

You actually like The Last of Us?

I hate that game. it is extremely boring to me. The only reason that i saw the story mode through to the end, is because i had already purchased it, and you cannot return opened games. I hate the fact that i wasted $60 on it. That is one of my biggest gaming regrets ever.

However. This i just my opinion. I am sure there are people who love the game.

I think PS4 will get the better exclusives as well as the better multi plat titles. It's a win win really for us here this time around - YAY!!!

I don't really care much about the exclusives offered by the both, but it really is easily seen that Ps4 has more promising titles. Sony has been doing it since the Ps3, remember Infamous? Uncharted series and not to mention, The Last Of Us. Just jaw dropping.

Now if somebody from Rockstar could just announce that GTA V will be out for next-gen soon. I could die a happy panda. And maybe an undead DLC just like Red Dead Redemption? lol, I'm getting my hopes too high.

Are you serious? D: maybe next time research a little before buying a game, or at least anticipate what the game is all about. OR buy a game that suits your playstyle so that you wont regret it later on. :P

What do you mean?

Of course i researched the game before i bought it. I thought the idea, or the premise of the game was amazing. However they failed to deliver compelling gameplay. That is my opinion. I am entitled to that. No need to get mad because i do not like game. I am just stating my experience, and opinion.

If you like it fine, that is your opinion. I am not going to argue with you about it.

Did you read my review of TLOU. I agree with you on this point. Not to the point of stopping playing the game because of it, but certainly didn't have compelling gameplay mechanics. Fantastic story yes :)
