PS4 is #2 on Amazon even though it's out of stock

A fun little bit of news but it does show how excited people were for the PS4. Even though it's out of stock on Amazon and has been for 4 days it's number two on their bestsellers list. That pretty good news for Sony because it really looks like this console is going to be the seller that they hoped it would be. It means nothing really in the long term, but in the short term it's really great news.

Everyone who didn't preorder is going to do what it takes to find one. Kind of crazy since the system hasn't launched worldwide yet.

That's kind of the scary part: "Everyone who didn't preorder is going to do what it takes to find one." There was already one shooting so far over the PS4 as well as some snatch and grabs. If I'm remembering correctly there were a assaults during the PS3 and 360 launches. There were only fewer this time because Sony managed to get way more than 400,000 consoles out there.

It's a good job for Sony but yeah the people who didn't get one at launch need to calm down. More are coming and actually, and this has been said a lot on the forum, there are plenty of PS4's out there in retail store just waiting to be purchased. The problem is that gamers tend not to think beyond the internet, Best Buy, and Game stores. There are other options if you want a PS4 without getting ripped off.

Exactly, people need to simmer down. Several stores gamers tend to overlook still have PS4s in stock. Not all of those Walmart stores are out of PS4 consoles. Of course GameStop would be.

That's crazy.. most successful launch ever and it is still in high demand. What's more surprising is, last generation, the US was Sony's weakest region (compared to the 360). When they launch worldwide, they'll see some damn impressive numbers.

Also, I don't know anyone who owns the game Just Dance 2014...do you?

I can't think of anyone with that game or who had the previous Just Dance games, really.

I couldn't tell you who owns Just Dance. Doesn't seem like something you'd buy a whole new console at $400 or $500 for.

Of course I'm sure there was someone who lost their stuff over Just Dance 2014 and stayed in line to get it and their new PS4.

Just Dance is really a game that needs the Kinect though I imagine that the PS4 Eye makes it more fun. If the features where similar than I'll be it when I get a PS4. I just saw a PS4 on ebay for $1,000 and couldn't believe that it had people bidding on it. Seriously how desperate are people? Some gamers have no real common sense, even Sony said that they are shipping more out in a couple of days, there are stores everywhere with consoles, I could leave my house right now and get one. Whose buying these overpriced things on ebay?

People with money to burn or their parents' card/Paypal. Who knows. I was just looking on eBay myself and discussing the prices with my brother. It's crazy. People really want those PS4s as if they're the very last ones in production.

It's honestly some of the most ridiculous things that I have seen when it comes to gaming. At least it hasn't gotten to the hysteria that we saw when the original Wii launched. People straight up died to get that console. Is it really just gamers though? It might be desperate parents who aren't tuned into the gaming world and don't realize that you can get the console at retail price in stores. Seriously makes me want to do a public service announcement.

That's pretty impressive, and well deserved, in my opinion. They conducted themselves really well all throughout the entire pre-launch, and are continuing to do so with good customer service post-launch, even doing as much as they can to replace faulty consoles. I really hope this means great things for this console's future library.
