Finally. It only took them a year and a half for this basic function :) Assume I can use my external hard drive now?

Assume I can use my external hard drive now?
I did a bit of testing and tried a few external HDD's,the PS4 didnt pick it up so at first I thought it was maybe the fie system, being NTFS on them so I tried a 32GB USB stick in FAT32. Didnt pick it up either. Only when I tried an 8GB and then 16GB USB drive in FAT32 format did the PS4 pick it up.
So maybe its limited to a 16GB drive max?

Also I noticed if you put media files on the root of the USB drive they dont show up.(at least when I tired video files, didnt try music or pics)
You need to first create a folder, put any files in the folder then on USB stick. Then the PS4 will pick up the files.

Thanks for testing it. I'll play around with my external keeping in mind what you said. If all else fails, I still have my PS3 that still works flawlessly ;)

Just downloaded the PS4 Media app went to watch a MKV video and the video part jitters

does anyone know why is this happening please ?

I have been using a 320gb hd on the ps4 since the release of the media player and all has worked fine up until a few days ago. Now whenever I open up the media player i get the message "the data is corrupted" followed by "do you want to overwrite this saved data?" I am still able to open the files/images/videos etc but each time I open one i get the same messages each time. The hd works fine if plugged directly to the tv or PC with no issues. I've also tried uninstalling the media player and reinstalling with no joy. Anybody else encountered this too?

Problem solved.

If anyone else gets this message you have a corrupt saved media player file in the saved data management folder on the ps4. Delete this file and the problem is resolved.
