PS4 Online region locked?

Awez

New Member
Hello, I'm Awez I have a question that if I buy battlefield 4 from USA and then buy a playstation 4 from india so will I able to play online on my indian playstation? How?

Games are region free,so any region game will work with any region console, however DLC generally isnt,so if you plan on getting DLC for BF4 you would have to make a US account and buy DLC from the US PSN Store for that US copy of BF4.

But as I said, the game itself will play fine, its just with DLC you may have issues. If you dont plan on getting DLC at all then no problems.

Ok thanks but does it will work online? How?

Sure, you can play your game online like any other.
If you bought a game from Russia its not going to put you in russian lobbies if that's what you mean,it goes by what region you are actually playing from when you connect online.

For eg,my CoD Ghosts is UK copy but Im not in UK games,it doesnt work that way.Im in Aussie lobbies.(Cause Im from AUS)

You can play online as long as you are a PS Plus subscriber. All games are made region free for the PS4 unless the publishers do otherwise. Just like what Oberon said, you connect to the servers of your region not the region of the disc when you're playing online.

So when I put online code does I have to log in from USA Account? Or I can put it from my indian account?

You mean codes for DLC content?
Then yeah, same thing, needs to be from same region PSN store as the game.
DLC from US copy of Ghosts for eg wont work on Euro version of Ghosts.
Like I said, games are region free but DLC isnt,so not cross compatible.

Guys you didn't answer his question which I am actually interested too. So the game looks for you account details to find your country or does it looks for your IP address? ( for placing you in correct servers) Thank you.

I don't believe that there are any regional restrictions on console or game use, so a game you buy in one country should work on a console that you buy in antoher, assuming that everything you are purchasing is authentic Sony. There used to be some regional conflicts with DVDs and such, but I think that even those have been rectified now.

Its exactly what Oberon says, the PSN reads our IP address and your region code and finds rooms and lobbies based on that information, also what language you chose.

Bottom line, games from anywhere work on any console, however DLC usually wont,so keep that in mind too.

What if I buy DLC using my Paypal account?

Though it won't save me any money.

Will it work then on a game from from UK and Indian Console.

Thanks
