PS4 Pro without HDR TV

Hello there all,

I'm new here and haven't formally introduced myself but I really wanted to get this question out there. I believe others probably have the same question. Had a look for other topics but can't find any that are related.
So, I'm really excited about the PS4 pro. Currently have the standard PS4, and love it. I have a Sony 4K tv, however, It doesn't have HDR. So question is, will I still take advantage of the PS4 pro graphics and picture quality with my tv even though it does not have HDR? Does this mean that I'll get 1080p or 4K but no HDR?

All PS4 consoles can now do HDR. There was an update a couple months back that make all PS4 consoles capable of playing HDR content, which is actually pretty cool. Now, to fully answer your question. Yes. You do need an HDR TV for it to work. And yes, if your TV is 4k, you can take advantage of the PS4 Pro graphics. HOWEVER, not all developers will develop games for 4k. Game developers have the option of doing a game in 4K 30fps or 1080p at 60fps. What PS4 pro does with older games is upscale the game to 4K to make them look better than say taking a 480p video and putting it on a 1080p display (think of old YouTube videos). If a game has been developed for 4K, then yes, you can take advantage of the better graphics. To be honest, if you have a 4K TV, it's not a bad idea to spend the extra 100 bucks on the better console.
