PS4 software update v3.50 revealed

Oberon

, , The Enforcer, ,
Some additions for the next PS4 software update 3.50 soon (no official release date at moment):

  • Appear offline whilst connected into PS4 network
  • Remote play for PC or MAC (allow players to connect their PlayStation 4 with a desktop computer within the same home network then play PS4 games on another screen or in another room in the house.
  • Friend Online Notification (FINALLY we have the notification to let us know when a friends signs in to PSN
  • User Scheduled Event
  • Play Together ( allows all members of a Party to see what each person is playing so that you can easily join a friend’s game, or start a new game together)
  • Dailymotion

So for me the 'about time' one is the friends notification one.Should have been out of the box.Oh well, only 2 and quarter years later :p

  • Anyone used this feature?
Any minimum requirement for PC? considering its only streaming, it shouldn't need a powerful hardware.

I was worried about the new pop-up messages when friends come online, but I've noticed that they're selective so we can decide if and who.

And also we can appear offline, so when that stunning blonde girlgamer I have among my friends, and also that redhaired sexy one, oh..! and also those two twins who always play in bikini, want to party with me at all costs, and my wife is around, I can hide and disappear from PSN.

Nice, well done Sony! :Onya

I was really happy to see that I can select what friends I see. I'm part of the Dads of Destiny Clan, so seeing everyone sign on would be annoying.

Remote play works really well on my Macbook. The mouse and keyboard work in the menus, but you'll have to have a controller connected via USB for games.

What is the purpose for remote play? Is it for when you might not be able to play on the TV so you can stream it that way? Does it work for 2 player split screen giving both a full screen?

You could use it for that, yes. I do not know about split screen. I honestly don't play any split screen games to test.

My Primary use for it on my Android phone is to be able to log on from anywhere if I need to grab a timed item, or run a timed event. Or just for the heck of it.

My PS4 is in my office, so it will be nice to log onto it with my Macbook, and play from my living room.

Looks like there are few additions to this update that has not been announced.

According to unofficial patch notes compiled by a Reddit user who goes by the name 'IceBreak', the 3.50 system software update introduces a number of undocumented changes. Chief among them is the return of the USB music player, a feature that was expunged from the console in September, which allows users to play music files on their PS4 whilst playing games at the same time.

Meanwhile, PS4 owners can now upgrade their console's hard-drive to a maximum capacity of four terabytes.

Elsewhere there are changes to the Live From PlayStation app that make it easier to search for livestreams of specific games. Also, users can now pin up to three games at the top of the app's search field, making it far easier to find live video of their favourite games.

Other bonuses include the option to disable the screenshot notification, along with stability improvements across the platform, as well as improved editing in the Capture Gallery.
