PS4 Update 4.0 13 Sep

Oberon

, , The Enforcer, ,
PS4 Update v4.0 will be available Sep13. (anytime now)

As well as menu changes/options it also adds support for HDR,located in your video output settings.
HDR (high dynamic range)gives better contrast, deeper blacks etc, ofcourse your TV will have to support HDR mode to be able to notice differences as far as I know.

Havent checked myself at the moment but apparently is approx 312MB.

One of its most welcome additions is folders for managing games and apps. There are also redesigned menus.

Additionally, the 4.00 update makes some nice changes to PlayStation Music so you no longer have to leave a game or app to make a song selection or pause the music. There is also a redesigned content info screen, while the What's New screen has also been updated with a new layout.

Other new features include the introduction of HDR support for all PS4s, which Sony confirmed last week during its PlayStation Meeting event. Also, there is a new data transfer feature that lets you move your games, saves, and account info from one PS4 to another over a wired LAN connection. If you're planning to pick up a PS4 slim or a PS4 Pro, this will seemingly make it easy to upgrade to either console.

This new update also adds support for Twitch, YouTube, and Dailymotion broadcasts in 720p at 60 FPS. Additionally, there are changes for Trophies, as you can now see the details for hidden Trophies, while you can also view Trophies even when you're offline.

I feel polemic & critical this morning... please excuse me :p

PS music bla bla bla, is this a console for games or what? If I want to play music I have my Hi-Fi ready to do it.

HDR technology has a reason on pictures or movies, because the actual CCD sensors are not sensitive enough to catch all range of brightness (like the human eye does) during scenes with a high contrast of lights. In videogames this is not needed, they're artificial, programmed at a desk and not taken from the real world. The game are already HDR.

Hidden trophies, yeah well done, thank you very much. There was a bit of mistery in those hidden stuffs and now they reveal them all. This is probably a stupid comparison but I prefer to undress my woman by myself instead of finding her already naked in my bed.

New folders, yeah, with 500Gb of HD I have 10 games stored in my PS, I will create a new folder named "my 10 games"... rofl.

Quick menu, it was already available, just in another position. And to be honest, I do not give a damn to the "tendency videos" or to the "tendency communities" or to some pathetic members to follow.

So, 300Mb of useless marketing stuffs, stolen space on my HD which can barely contain 10 games.

At least, hopefully with the next 5.0 upgrade, my PS4 will be able to wash my socks (actually it's able only to dry them).

Okay, I now turn my polemic mode OFF, I just wanted to whine a bit.

And don't take me too seriously please... I still consider the PS4 the best console on the planet.

:grin :grin :grin

I'm just waiting for them to update the OS with a virtual Japanese GF who wants to know all about you and your taste, so she themes everything for you. LOL

I do not notice any real changes same for some design elements, which I like. Really though, I turn on my PS4 and start my game, the rest I could live without. Rarely spend more then a minute outside of games on my PS4.
