PS5 Controller "Unpairing/Unsyncing"

Very sporadic but frustrating issue I'm having with both PS5 controllers.

The scenario:
  1. PS5 console is in "Sleep/Rest" mode.
  2. I press the PS button on my controller to wake up the console.
  3. Console powers on and goes to login screen (I have a password lock enabled)
  4. I may get distracted for a few minutes and do not press any buttons or login to my PS5.
  5. I return to my PS5, my controller has powered off automatically but console still on.
  6. I press the PS button to reconnect (console is still powered on and on the "connect a controller screen".
  7. My controller flashes a blue light and does not reconnect to the console as if it has been forgotten.
  8. I put the console into rest mode using my TV remote and try to wake it again using the PS button on my controller but the console does not wake up.
  9. Looks like the controller is no longer recognised by/paired to the console.
Additional info:
  • Console up to date as of today
  • Both controllers up to date as of today
  • Have had this issue before and after console and controller updates
Two questions:
  1. What is the cause of this?
  2. What is the fix/preventative measure?
Any help or information is greatly appreciated.

Did you update the PlayStation 5 to the latest version of the firmware?

Did you update your controller? Yup, you can update your controller.

Not trying to be rude but I already confirmed that both are up to date in my original post.

I didn't catch that, sorry. It shouldn't be giving you problems.

Rebuild databases? I'm not sure if that's available in PS5, but when I see PS4 having issues, I'd rebuild database. I'm not sure if it works like it does on PS4.
