PSP vs Nintendo DS

There is little doubt that the PSP was launched with the idea of breaking Nintendo's stronghold on the handheld gaming market. Ninetendo DS, a new entry at the time to Nintendo's long running gameboy program ended up being direct competition to the PSP.

Which one of the two handhelds was better in your opinion?

I personally think that PSP trumped DS thanks to its better graphics. Nintendo DS' gimmick of 2 screens also left me a bit cold as it did not really add much to my enjoyment of the games. What's your opinion?

You know what? As much as I loved the PSP, I'd say that the DS is the winner. Yes, the PSP technically has the more powerful hardware but I think that the Nintendo DS is a lot more of a success as compared to the PSP because of its sheer volume of games. I would remember the PSP as the King of PS 3 ports nothing more.

That is one of those questions i will never be able to answer.
You put a custom firmware on the PSP, and you got a damn of a beast to run everything you want and more (which is something that the PSVita could become in the future, with that delicious screen quality), but the games on the DS are so good, and there are so many of them.

DS hands down. There were more games, better games, and so much more of my favorite types of games on tap. On top of that the DS usage of dual screens/touchscreen really opened the door towards imaginative gameplay from developers. In fact you might say the Vita is trying to jump off of the example presented. So yeah - DS, but PSP was a great system and I continue to love it to death.

Also, Nintendo has had a firm hold on the handheld console industry since the old days. No matter what Sony throws at them, Nintendo still delivers the goods. Though their handheld consoles are a bit underpowered as compared to that of Sony, their innovation still shines through. And it shows in the games that are available on their systems. Unless Sony finds a way to increase its library of handheld games, they won't be able to overtake Nintendo.

PSP 100% i find it much more funner and the games seem more my style on the psp not like pokemon etc and games that don't really interest me so much.

Will have to agree with people saying that DS had a better games library because of the fact that Nintendo had a more established presence than Sony in the handheld console market. But really although the PSP had a smaller games library, there were quite a few quality games there.

Seems to me that people like the DS quite a bit more than I had initially thought.
