Replaying: God of War 1

You know, I've just remembered something when I saw my God of War disc, I haven't finished the game yet! So I immediately popped my disc in my good old PS 2 and started beating the heck out of that darn Hydra. It was easy really. I just pounded the square and triangle buttons to my hearts content. The game looks dated now but I still find it entertaining. I don't have the urge to play it for long periods like RE4 though. Anybody else here who has not yet beaten the first GOW?

Nah. That said haven't finished GOW3 I have no further interest in the series. Kratos is a truly unlikable protagonist. His troubles are his own fault, but he will never admit to it. I just don't like him, and apparently I have to at least kind of be invested in a character to really bother with their series.

The first God of War was an ok game, and the rest were cheap, popcorn trash, in my opinion. The first game was scripted and followed like a classic Greek tragedy, and Kratos served that role just fine. It was self-contained and wrapped up just fine. Now its just a devolved, senseless violence series, with pointless excuses just to get Kratos yelling and bloody again. I have no idea why it continues to be popular.

I think it's popular because it's violent and just about anybody can look cool killing different sorts of creatures. You only need to tap a few buttons to dish out the pain. And let's face it, the game has got some good voice acting and the story is not cheesy. I think the best of the series is God of War 2. It had everything going for it. GoW 3 was an improvement both in size and in graphics but gameplay felt like it was really getting old.

No, I have had the pleasure beating both of the first two God of War games and really enjoyed them both. However, I still haven't finished God of War 3. The reason for that is simply because at the moment, my PlayStation 3 controller hasn't been working properly and I definitely need to get a new one sometime soon, especially for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD remake.

GOD OF WAR is a classic. I beat all of them except the new one. I heard it wasn't that good. The story line of that game was awesome. I didn't want the game to end.

I didn't replayed it, just played it for the first time when the HD version was free for Playstation Plus members during that period of time that God of War Ascension was released.
It was... okay, i guess. I ain't big on the setting and combat ain't really that good in comparison to Devil May Cry.

I never really liked God of War at first but as I played on, I learned to love it. The scope of the game is just epic and the boss battles are designed masterfully. It could get tiresome at times when you are plodding through dozens and dozens of enemies since you can just button mash your way through. But once you get to the big ones, it's a thing of beauty.

It's fine I suppose, the only problem I guess is that ... You know there is this game Ops something wherein you learn some really ugly lessons. It's basically you doing awful things and then realizing that just because something or someone tells you something doesn't make it okay. In some ways God of War is like that except you're suppose to think it's cool. It's cool to beat up all these gods and whatever nevermind the consequences - even though the only reason you're doing any of this is because of a set of consequences - the death of your family. I just hate that - at least the later games didn't have the incredibly cheap Hell segment the first one did.

I haven't beaten it yet but I love playing God of War. I have the other games in the series and I can't wait to get to playing them.
