Same problems as 3?

I was incredibly excited to play ACIII, I even pre-ordered it. I was immensely let down by the final product to say the least. It had everything the developers promised but every aspect and mechanic just felt so shallow. I miss the first several games that actually featured ******inations that you could approach however you felt was necessary. ACIII nearly limited every ******ination to a cut scene.

Just curious if 4 suffers the same problems.

I've heard quite the opposite. AC2 was always my favorite game. I've heard nothing but great things from people in my clan that play it. That they did a great job incorporating the good things from AC2 in it and taking out the bad things from AC3. Its a great mix I've heard. I personally haven't played it yet, but I plan on grabbing it around CHristmas Time.

I have not played the game myself, but I've read many fans of the series place it at the top of their lists along with AC2, while they placed AC3 at the bottom. Sounds really good.

The real question is how they're integrating the ship element. A new game mechanic always poses significant questions to a game franchise. Now, I haven't played it yet; the game is still very young. But from what I've heard, they've done away with a lot of the mistakes they made in III.

From all the trailers I saw and a few gameplay videos the game has some minor problems but the world and story are fascinating. I think it will be a great game, and I will certainly love it.

I've played 4 and it was really good. Of course the ship mechanic is the best part of the whole game. It's incredibly immersive and very responsive. I can spend hours just sailing around and listening to my crew sing sea shanties. Don't get me wrong AC4 isn't game of the year, but if you pick it up for the PS4 then I think you'll enjoy it. Just remember at it's core it is an Assassin's Creed game. If you don't like the series, you won't like AC4.

I haven't play AC4 yet, waiting for my brother to bring it over so I can try it out. I actually enjoyed AC3 a lot, neck and neck with AC2. The only thing I didn't care for was being pulled out of the Connor sequences and having to do Desmond's stuff. Some of the glitches--bar for the permanently attacked first wagon--were funny.

I enjoyed the little I played of AC4. The pirate age was a very interesting one and to have a recent pirate-themed title to enjoy since what, Pirates made it to Xbox? It's great! I'm enjoying it on PS3, but everything about it just comes off as better than AC3.

They certainly do appear to be trying to make the game as fresh as they possibly can for Black Flag. How successful they are with that however, remains to be seen.

I am currently about half way through AC4. I like it better then AC3. I think it would be cool if the next one was set in modern times. Those one shot guns get boring. Thanks!

After the OUTSTANDING disappointing that was AC3 (I was so hyped...), I thought I was done with AC. However, AC4 is very amazing and I'm having fun hunting for all the trophies (especially since on ps4 you can see how rare they are!). A good site is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag PS4 Cheats if you need somewhere to use check out the easiest ways to unlock trophies or other things : )

I liked AC3 but I didn't love it. And Connor certainly isn't the same tour de personality that Ezio was. However that changed with AC4. They did a great job adding things to the series to make it interesting again. The boat mechanics were great, I loved fighting different vessels on the high seas, and I really liked the personality of Edward Kenway.

Couldn't agree more, I couldn't even finish Assassin's Creed 3 for lack of interest in the game. I'm a huge trophy hunter though, so AC4 sounds like it might have something for me!

Reading further replies made to this thread, along with what I've read in other forums, is really making me want to pick up this game. I think I'm gonna wait it out, though, until I actually have a PS4 and buy it for PS4 instead of playing it on my 360 or my lame PC.

I never played Assassin's Creed III. In fact, this was my first Assassin's Creed game to really get anywhere on. Not because I wasn't interested in the games, but because I was a late adopter to the PS3.

I would rank AC:IV BF at the top of my list of best PS4 launch games. Granted, the list of launch games are thin as it is. It is the most addicting game I have played in a while. Very immersive. The sailing aspect is great, and easy to get good at. The combat is amazing in my opinion. They really mixed the Pirate-Assassin thing well, and everything flows naturally. I also haven't come across any noticeable glitches, unlike in Killzone Shadowfall. Sure, it may not be the perfect game but it is a very good one. So while I can't compare it to other AC games, I would personally highly recommend it.

I skipped AC3, and this is the first I've heard about it being disappointing. I just didn't have the time when it was released. I'm hoping this doesn't create a big void in storyline, as long as I go back and at least read up on the plot, etc.

Like many of you, I still rank AC2 as my favorite by a decent margin. My least favorite is the first (though at the time of release it was one of my favorite games), but they've done a great job building the series as they go.

AC3 wasn't bad, it was pretty good but Connor was the weakest of the Assassin's. He isn't as memorable (even if you hated him) as Altair and he wasn't as charismatic or fun as Ezio. Certainly not as fun or engaging as Edward who ranks close to Ezio as my favorite. The ship mechanic is something that drew to 4 and it really elevates the game and helps revive AC. I hope they expand on it.

He was certainly not as charismatic as Ezio or Edward... but I never thought Altair was all that charismatic anyway... I wonder... if Conner and Altair switched place so that Connor was the first assassin, would he be the more memorable one?
