Security screws and other sizes

ps4R

New Member
Hi all, 1st post,
I am fixing a 2014 Ps4 for a friend..

I took off the 4 little stickers only to find 4 security screws
that i obviously have no bits for to remove them, they "look"
like a T-8 size?..
I have a feeling even after i get this right bit, there is going to be other odd ball screw heads that i will run in to..could some kind fellow post all head sizes of bits i will be needing to get to this Ps4 so i can reach into the HDMI port section from the inside?

THX!

You might want to take a look at it as its got a complete guide on how to teardown and fix the PS4.

I tried a bunch of searches, your "Teardown" was the successful key word i omiited!!

I just typed in "PS4 security screws) and it was one of the results that came up.

I hope this has answered your question.

Best of luck!

Some say removing the HDMI Port is best done with a 750F heat gun for like 5mins..
is soldering the better/safer method on the surrounding components though?

I honestly don't know, this isn't something I know anything about. I can't do DIY very well and wouldn't like to even hazard a guess as I just don't know much about what works on the system.

Thanks again Derri!
At 3:19 in case anyone has a input on this option..
Tried to post link, but i am 26 posts shy of link sharing, paste:

If you want a link in, Private Message it to me and I'll paste it in. I know its tough but we do get a lot of spam so its a necessary precaution.

Soldering seems to be the quicker easier way to remove and reinstall components. Also T9 and a Philips head are the only screws inside a PS4.

The only thing is how to de solder about14 pins all at once so the
whole thing can be pulled off all at once..

That is the hard part I suppose. In that case the heat gun may be your best option. Unless you want to completely re-solder it.

Have you taken the ds4 apart to see why the pad is stuck and buttons not working? Could be some gunk in there if maybe something spilled on it.

Just an update for any interested, it was a disaster, i de soldered it
sucessfully enough, it was the Re soldering of the Port back in that
was a 'non go'..will/would never attempt such a project again, was a bog'ol waste
of time..

THANKS for all helps though!
