Should i buy my ps4 un the us or uk?

Hi,
*
I'm off to America next week and have thought about getting a ps4 whilst there if any are left to be found as they are cheaper even with any import taxes. *My question is I understand the pal games will play on the system as its region free for games. To play boy rays I understand a day one software update is required. Is this when the system locks the blu ray region or is it locked off the shelf? I don't want a system that I am unable to play all my blu rays.

blu ray movies would be region locked.
But also if you buy from overseas and import you may not be covered by any Sony warranty in your country either.Cause its imported.
Cause I know some people here in AUS that got faulty stock by importing via Amazon had to go through Amazon for replacements,as Sony in AUS couldnt help them.

Thanks for reply. Hadn't really thought about warranty that's food for thought.

I know the blu rays are locked but I have had in the past players which you could set the region by hidden menus up to 5 times prior to being permanently locked and some of them allowed you to change to play all regions. Wondered if this was the same for the ps4

Oh yeah, some home blu ray players allow you to change the blu ray region code by a hidden menu and code, infact I have one that can do this.
But as for PS3 and PS4,AFAIK no,it cant be done on them.
However so many blu ray movies are 'all region' compared to DVD's.

If warranty is an issue for you then I wouldn't bother with buying a PS4 in the states. Also if you want to play blurays then you would have to continue buying American unless you got it replaced. It just seems like a hassle even if you find a PS4 here. Instead you're life will probably just be a lot easier if you wait to buy a console once you get back to the UK.
