The game has been fully announced at Gamescom and they have released a 6 minute 'first look' video, you can check it out here :

I think that it looks very similar to the sims 3 because they are using the same engine after all, I just hope that they optimise it a lot better and just make the game run smoother because as much as I had a lot of fun with the sims 3, the game was extremely choppy at times and sometimes just unplayable.

I'm not happy with what we've been shown up to now. It still seems so oversimplified and comical...

This is exciting. I don't play Sims, but my girlfriend loves the series! I can't wait to surprise her with a copy of this game once it's released. She loves the game so much to the point that sometimes she doesn't even notice me at all when she's playing Sims 3. Nevertheless, I love her.

The premise was cool but it seems that the Sims games have become "lets see how many people we can make have sex!"
I actually got a copy of the Sims 3 with the humble bundle i purchased a while back, I havent played it at all, maybe i should give it a chance though

I like the improved create a sim. It would be awesome to create a character that looks almost identical to myself. I have yet to see a create a character in any game that looks this good.
