Sons of Anarchy game?

What is it with this game? It seems like there is little to no hope for it and I can't quite put my finger on the 'why'. Is it Kurt Sutter wants the game to properly reflect the show so as to avoid another Sopranos catastrophe? Will PS4 be the right platform for this title? Is it that Fox feels there is not enough money to be made in this venture? Is the price a little high for the voice acting? Why?!?

Is it that there is a curse attached to a licensed game? Have we already forgotten the debacle that was The Walking Dead: The TV Show game? I played that abomination. The Walking Dead (Telltale) is not the rule here, it's the exception and I doubt that a Sons of Anarchy game would be any good unless the creator was directly involved to make sure that it didn't suck.

I can't imagine how Sons of Anarchy would even make a good game. They'd probably be able to get the voice actors, but I'd worry about the story and game mechanics. In my mind it wouldn't be a good game, I just can't see how everything would work. It's just got a lot going against it, so I'm kind of relieved that it's not going to get a game.

All I could come up with for it working is that you'd play the role of prospect. It's basically the same premise as the Godfather game (which I enjoyed)--you start from the bottom up and run missions while being a part of pivotal parts of the movie. It would likely be the same for Sons of Anarchy.

I guess that would work, but I'm still pretty skeptical about it. We've just seen this happen before to many times, I mean look what happened with The Walking Dead (TV show) game. It was awful and nothing compared to the Telltale version. There is just to many signs that Sons of Anarchy wouldn't be any good if it made it to game development for me to be behind it.

95% of the time, Licenses games (Especially off Television shows) are complete garbage. As someone else stated, the Walking Dead game was a complete catastrophe, while TellTale did an amazing job. Just about everything after that has usually been bad with a few exceptions. I've never really watched the show that much since it doesn't interest me one bit, but I'm not sure how a game of that would work. Hell, for as far as I'm concerned, they already made a game based around it. It's called Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and the Damned. Same concept, really.

Lost and Damned was my favorite part of GTA IV. Keeping with Sons of Anarchy, I agree with SpaceTiger, it's likely to be like the Godfather games. As HydraForce said, licensed games tend to be a miss most of the time. Sure you might get Vampire: Bloodlines every so often, but most of the time you'll end up with Hercules and Xena fighters (how do you ruin a Xena game? Don't make that a fighter, damn it).

Yeah there's not much that could be done with a Sons of Anarchy game. Probably what SpaceTiger suggested. It seems like that they didn't really consider what to do with the series in game format and just wanted to jump on it. Sons is a series that you can't spin off in different directions when it comes games (like say superhero shows and so on).

The Walking Dead game was...pretty bad. State of Decay did it better.

Depends on the developer/publisher, but I have no hope for, say, Activision pushing out a decent licensed game. I don't trust anyone behind The Walking Dead (FPS) for anything.

I am not optimistic if this because a real thing. We just have to many negatives going towards it and there is just no way that this is going to turn out to be good. I've found that our first instincts are usually the right ones when it comes to licensed games. Let us not forget the tragedy that was Aliens: Colonial Marines. Never forget gamers, never forget.

I thought I was the only one hoping for a Predator game (preferably where I play as Predator).

Oh and this Sons of Anarchy thing will not only be done by Activision, but it'll be a tournament fighter using Shaq-Fu as a reference.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new Predator game, but for those who want something to tie them over till then, both Stuck and Ghost should check out Predator: Concrete Jungle. It was on the original Xbox and I Think the PlayStation 2 as well. It's a third person game, but it's very open and somewhat free roam. You play as the Predator and can do actual missions, or just go around killing people, skinning them, and then hanging their spines around the town. There's a cool incentive to explore as well, since you will find stronger upgrades, new weapons, and different collectibles. Fun times on that game.

If this had to happen then I would be okay with Telltale doing it. I think that they might be able to pull it off with the kind of show it is. Although a Predator game could work depending on how it works. I would like to see it in the style of Far Cry 3 without all the dude bro.

I've played Predator: Concrete Jungle...and I enjoyed greatly. That's a movie series that should've gotten a regular game franchise in the mid-2000s. People dig the Predator, the game's premise wouldn't have to be so lofty, and hopefully we would've gotten Predator vs. Batman and Predator vs. Boba Fett DLC.

A Mariachi trilogy game series too. That would've been my blind faith movie to game series. "It's buggy? Your face is buggy! >:C"

I would like to see it in the style of Far Cry 3 without all the dude bro.

Funny that you bring up Far Cry 3, because even though it's lumped in with all dudebro shooters, Far Cry 2 was the one I actually liked. Sure there were issues with it compared to the PC version, but the setting was solid. You were a mercenary, not a member of any kind of special forces. You had a vague background about your past, some buddies, and some reasonable missions.

...it was still very "Here's your objective, now get to the end of this place, kill ALL the people" and all that jazz. Plus the whole missions being waaaay on the other side of playing territory thing.

If only people would learn that 9/10 times, movies and TV shows don't make good games. Plus, nobody is really in the market for a game like this. If anything, I hope developers will learn from it's mistakes.

I had been hoping for a Predator game then you brought up Colonial Marines.

It's amazing how much Gearbox screwed that one up. Well, Gearbox and whoever else. How many teams were working on that damn thing anyway!? Not that I can blame Gearbox, they had Borderlands 2 to worry about and BL2 turned out great.

This. Some developers just think that following a show that a lot of people watch will automatically make the great game a hit. BUT NO! GAMERS DO NOT WANT THAT! They want games that are UNIQUE and DIFFERENT from others. As you have said, hopefully they learn from there mistakes, even though it is a big one.

True. I do find that movies that have been out for a buffer of like 10+ years and get a game have a better chance of turning out at least decent than movies that just came out or TV shows still in their run. While they're the exception, I'll always put Scarface: The World Is Yours (the map is what is what Vice City's could've been--sizable) and The Godfather. Even Evil Dead was decent. I mean it wasn't Scarface good, but it didn't drop below decent.

Stranglehold (a sequel) was good--as a matter of fact, there should've been two more Chow Yun Fat/John Woo sequels in game form.

That game got passed around a bit. I think three teams worked on it? They should've just pushed it back instead of trying to meet the hype and release date.
