Sony All-Stars Battle royale

Hey just wondering what peoples thoughts were on this new title coming in October. Personlly I'm a little conflicted, I love Super Smash Bros and this is obviously Sonys way to try to enter the 2D 4 way battle game genre. At the present time there is only a handful of characters that have been included and I am hoping that Sony doesn't decide to give minium characters in-game then more in DLC because that idea would already put this game far below the SSb series. Even though I find the concept a complete rip off (and currently I don't know enough to black list it) there is a certain charm to the idea. With Sly Cooper, Cole MacGrath, Sweet Tooth and Jak and Daxter to the mix as well as PaRappa and Kratos, and adding some unusual locations and items Sony could in theroy make this game quite interesting. So i was just wondering what anyone else thinks about it, would you buy it or just ignore it and hope it goes away?

... I think you're about a year late.

Also, it was fun enough, but I don't really think Nintendo should have pure rights to tht style of gameplay.

And I'd have preferred if they made a crossover game with a story and not a fighter.

Well, it's a great game. It doesn't necessarily mean that if it's similar to Smash Bros., its no longer good because they copied the game. For PlayStation fanatics, this game is pure fun because you would see your favorite characters dishing it out against each other. Yes, it's not as good as Smash Bros, but it's close.

Edit: woops, I didn't notice that this post was by asianboi. Lol.

Wow, this is certainly a strange post as the game has already been out for basically a year. Is there something I'm missing here? Well anyways, the game is ok but it doesn't come close to level of Super Smash Bros. I think the major downside of the game is that developers decided to not use a stock system and instead made it were you could only win by using special attacks which was a dumb idea in my opinion.

The game is fun, but it is no Smash Brothers. The replay value isn't there and too many of my favorite characters were hard to unlock. Also, I know Raiden has been training in Mortal Kombat his whole life, but he is too OP.

... I am confused. Is this a joke? If it is, there isn't any humor so you may want to work on that.

But again, there aren't any unlockable characters and Raiden isn't from MK, so... :/

I've actually just started playing this as of a couple of nights ago on the PS Vita. I have played it before on the PS3 but because I had to create a new PSN ID - yeah. Anyways, this game is a lot of fun. Some characters are terrible to control, and playing each characters "campaign" gets a little tedious after a while, but all in all I enjoy this game. Very fun.

As said before this is not as good as super smash bros I remember playing it on the WII and it was really enjoyable this just seems to have ripped off that game, i have watched a few gameplays of this but it doesn't seem anything to super smash bros.

I would say that it is a play on the names. Raiden from MK and then Raiden from Metal Gear.

Still, Sony dropped the ball hard on this one. I was really excited for the game and then... this was released. Two Coles? Dante from DmC? Zeus?
Ugh, Sony, you have dozens of good series out there, what the hell are you doing by putting these horrible characters in? And don't even get me started on the whole combat system, they should have just ripped off Smash Bros completely and make it good!

The game was pretty decent, in my opinion; just a little unbalanced. I agree with BlackSolaris, as far the roster goes, though. I was really upset that they flaked out and left out so many great characters. However, I think they out did Smash Bros on some of the character mechanics (such as my main, Sly Cooper). I found the combo system and the amount of mastery you can gain over each individual character requires a higher skill set than that of Smash Brothers. I'd say for a blatant Smash Bros rip-off, they had a decent first outing. They need to bring it back with a better roster, better online mode selection, and some sort of single player campaign.

That's where Smash Bros has them beat. The single player content on Smash Bros is amazing.
