Sony neglected EA Access subscription service - Thoughts?

One app doesn't just suddenly mean Microsoft have changed their tune. Yes its a good app and a step in the right direction, and in my original post I stated I had taken up the offer as I buy a lot of EA games. But please tell me what other great features or exclusive games Microsoft are offering the gaming community atm? The only two that are worth a mention are Titanfall and Ryse: Son of Rome, both of which were cool games but soon got boring.

Short version, i find it remarkable that some people ( you ) manage to blame MS for something SONY did all by themselves.

Lets be honest here. SONY turned this EA bundle down because they want people to buy their PS NOW app. If people got the EA APP, then it would make the pricing of the SONY app look stupid.

SO in short SONY are denying gamers a wider choice to get their hands on GAMES for their own finacial gains ie as they want people to get the PS NOW app, .... yet somehow in your world MS are at fault ... quote " SORT IT OUT MICROSOFT " ?

If you actually take the time to read the post you find as Microsoft bashing properly you may actually find that I state I am still a Microsoft fan and the reason for that is previous consoles they did everything right. Is it to much to ask from a company they that keep up the same amazing standards its customers are used too?

I have had every single xbox as well as playstation, I have always preferred Xbox. (Except in the playstation One era of course)

Just because I am unhappy with Microsoft atm doesn't mean I hate them and will judge or put them down at every opportunity. Christ I cant even believe I have to explain myself. I even said in my OP that I thought it was a great app, but then agreed with another poster in my second post (reluctantly) that Microsoft seem to be going down the quick buck root.

And yes, your right Sony turned the app down due to its PS Now app, But EA went to sony first? what does that tell you about the xbox?

I think we just need to agree to disagree as we don't seem to be going anywhere with this except round in circles. But before we do, I would just like to say I am not the feeble gamer type you seem to be brushing me with. I am just unhappy with Microsoft atm. Usually I would try and let of some steam playing COD and owning some unsuspecting noob, but I cant even do that as I had to sell my 360 to help pay for a bloody PS4!! lol

Without doubt, I would go as far as saying it was the only reason. As much as us gamers feel we should expect these type of services for free or at very low prices at least, the truth is Gaming and making games/consoles costs money, and in a lot of cases even loses money. Sony obviously had this planned for a while and was in its finishing stages, I fully expect if EA had come knocking sooner Sony would have taken them up on the offer.

However the cheaper the rent the more likely you'll get the curious involved.

What i'm curious about not just with you but everyone else here, is what pricing would be acceptable to you for the PS Now renting service, when compared to EA's $20 for all their games in the library game all year long pricing model.

For me the 4 hour rent on PS NOW would need to be 50p ( 75 cents in USA money ) and for a 90 day rent of a game, i'd pay up to £5 ( $7.50 )

those prices are reasonable, and would have a lot of people renting from the service.

The EA app on xbox is £20 but I have already got that money back after selling fifa 14 and battlefield, which I have since downloaded for free. Yes I no longer own those games unless I stay subscribed but who plays the old fifa when they have the new one? Which I will be buying at a 10% discount. Don't get me started with battlefield 4.....or battlefield 3.5 as it should have been called lol.

I am already 2 years ahead of my subscription fee and I haven't even purchased any discounts from the app yet lol.

A similar service on sony will be very popular with similar pricing. Who would have ever thought EA offered value for money?

Well it's new games at a discount or old games for free.

With the 2015 versions coming out what better way to hook customers than offer the 14 versions now maybe 2 months before they are out of date.

If you don't own many EA games already then initially it's a good deal but the limited timed early access is to try and get you to buy digitally.

Say the game is £55 RRP then it's £50 digitally for as long as you subscribe to the service with no trade in value.

EA don't have the most extensive list of games nor are they well known for treating gamers well so this is probably why a lot of us are a bit cautious over what looks at first glance like a good deal.

I will watch this from afar with interest.

the new Dragon Age will prove very popular, as well as all the new sports games coming out. I have sold battlefield 4 and fifa 14, and then re downloaded them for free, this means I am actually 2 years ahead of my subscription fee and I haven't even purchased any of the discounts yet. Its a good app and one I intend to make the most off, but your right EA are limited in their titles and that's probably the only draw back to it.

I cant wait for Mass Effect though, watching E3 live I was almost speechless when the teaser came on lol.

So the news yesterday of a new service called EA Access which is a subscription service for Xbox One that serves up EA games for a monthly or annual fee. For £3.99.$4.99 a month, or £19.99/$29.99 a year, subscribers will receive access to 'The Vault', a PlayStation Plus-like collection of EA games available to download and play at no additional cost. EA Access members will also save ten per cent on purchases of EA digital content, and receive early access to select games beginning with Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA LIVE 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition later this year.

Apparently Sony were offered this service but the company doesn't believe EA Access represents good value for PlayStation owners. I think that is ridiculous from Sony honestly...

I think it goes counter to Sony's PS Now service and that's why they didn't jump on board. They would allow their big competitor on their own console and would eat into their own bottom line. That would be like Ford putting a Chevy engine in their car.

While I ma glad they did that as I dont; need any more crap of EA to be considered, they should have given an option to PS4 gamers to let them decide for themselves. I know there will be some of them wanting to subscribe to EA Access.

I just returned to the PlayStation after years away, mainly because I am unhappy with what how Microsoft are handling the situation. If you find that hilarious that's your prerogative.
