Keep in mind that this is just a rumor and there's nothing verifying this yet, but SCE President and CEO Andrew House has stated a lot that Sony is interested in the free to play market. And that the interest is strong enough for them to get one of their first party studios focused on developing those games. It makes some sense as ftps are booming right now and some of the biggest and most popular games on the PS4 are ftps.
