Sony Sells One Million PS4's in 24 Hours

PlayStation 4 sold 1 million units in first day of availability

PlayStation 4 sales reached the 1 million mark within the console's first 24 hours at retail, Sony announced this morning. The PS4 launched in North America on November 15, so that figure is restricted to the US & Canada; the console comes to Europe on November 29, and Japan on February 22, 2014.

I don't know how it compares to other launches, whether console or not, but I think 1M in 24hrs is impressive by any standard. It makes me all the more excited to see how Xbox will do, not for "console wars" reasons of course, I just like seeing the results of the competition. Either way, it looks like a pretty good start for Sony this time, let's hope they follow through just as well.

For a little bit of perspective, the Xbox 360 sold 1.5 units in about a month. However, it''s important to note that the launch of the 360 was dampened because Microsoft simply couldn't keep up with demand. I'm curious how the Xbox One will do, I imagine it will put up similar numbers.
