Suikoden I and II - Which is the best?

One of the best RPG games, probably the best game series in the bunch of games from PSone. I first started playing Suikoden II and was, and still so hooked that I won't think twice of playing it again on an old PSP just for the quest. Suikoden II is just pure genius; with all the side quest, the story, and the character recruiting stuff. While Suikoden I was pretty good, it can never be compared to Suikoden II, IMO, in terms of greatness and satisfaction.

Which one do you prefer?

Whoa! I don't believe people can forget an excellent RPG like Suikoden. The plot is way better than any Final Fantasy series, and of course, less complicated. I do admit that the graphics can't compare to FF but it has heart and it was really fun to play.

I own this game, as it's one of my favorite non-FF games, along with Vandal Hearts. The first game was the best, where you'll completely recruit all 108 characters. The plot and storyline were good, and the drama scenes nearly made me cry.

I only got to play Suikoden II because of my cousin, but i instantly loved it. Only tried the first one a couple of years ago, and i just can't go back to it without thinking that the sequel is much better. Maybe it's the music and the overall combat system, or maybe it's the characters and the story, but Suikoden II takes the prize!

I remember playing Suikoden II over and over until I knew where the items were automatically. It was crazy; I can't get enough of it. I'm still waiting for a PS4 or PS3 release. *fingers crossed*

The storyline is the best part of Suikoden II. I love that all the 108 characters all have interesting back stories. When I think about it, it's pretty crazy that I'd remembered all the names of the characters and their stories as well.

Suikoden 2 is one of my all time favorite rpgs EVER. In my old age I've soured a lot toward jrpgs I use to play obsessively as a kid, but certain outliers, like Final Fantasy 3 and Chrono Trigger are still loads of awesomeness. Suikoden 2 is one of those games, Luca Blight was such a great bad guy, one of my favorites EVER, the first game kinda felt lacking with the bad guys since most of them were usually under the control of the witch lady and The Emperor was a pretty nice guy, all things considered. I really felt bad for him at the end.

Suikoden 2 is the best, objectively, to me, in my opinion, which kinda contradicts being objective but whatever. Still, a person needs to play through the original just so they can get to recruit S1 protagonist later for MUCH AWESOMENESS. I do prefer Tir to S2 guy, I was disapointed I didn't get to pick the dark sword rune and instead got the "wee friendship is power" brightshield rune. Soul eater was SO awesome, it had badass spell names like HELL's FINGERS and JUDGEMENT and can you forget that sound of doom it made while devouring enemies' souls?

So yeah..

S1 protagonist > S2 protagonist
For everything else..Suikoden 2 is better.
