I am around for a couple of days then, finally, I'll take my holidays to spend with my family.

I wish you all good times. See you all in september!! :D:Onya

Shhhhh. Everyone stop talking about Alex 0:

Welcome back. How was your holiday?

LOL!! That's why my ears whistled all the time, eh?

Thank's Titan, it was very good, a trip by car along South Germany, visiting ancient castles, roman settlements and museums of dinosaurs... and a couple of amusement parks too. Something to repeat next year for sure, probably in England. :)

Lucky. It must be advantageous living in Europe in the respect you can travel to so many different countries with so many different cultures all by car. If I were to travel to Europe, I'd have to book a tour and be that stereotypical American tourist I'm sure much of Europe hates lol. To travel by car here in the states and experience a different culture, you need to go below the Mason Dixon line lol.

I'd love to travel all over Europe. But I wouldn't want to book a tour. I'd want to see the real country and experience the real culture, not just the touristy spots and resorts everyone goes to.

We don't meet american tourists in Europe so frequently, and the ones I met in the past, were extremely kind and I was very glad to help them when they asked. Europe by car is absolutely attractive and interesting. Wherever you go, every few kilometers you can stop and visit a church, a fortess, ancient buildings, museums, etc. The food & drinks are very traditional in every country too, so this could be a sort of culture discovering as well. The big cities are also very interesting, but always too crowded imo. Not a good reason to avoid a visit anyway.

If you want to make a tour in Europe, I agree, don't book anything, only the flight and a rental car. Almost all Europeans can speak english so, you would not feel a stranger too much. In addition, if one of your destinations is the UK, I think you'll feel at home somehow.

I tell you this because you mentioned your country: when I was 28yo, with my girlfriend who is now my wife, we did trip along the United States, from NYC to LA, by car. 6000 miles in 30 days, driving throu states as Virginia, Tennesee, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California. It was one of the best holiday we have ever spent and we still remember it with love. You country has much to offer to tourists too :)
