The Engine

I am aware they're running a new version of the Engine that they used in previous games. However I always felt this Engine always felt clunky and killing zombies was always a 'clunky' experience, it didn't feel smooth and the combat was really rough around the edges. I don't know what it is about this game and others designed with this engine e.g. dying light. However, these games have always felt weird and I'm always really put off from these games.

Does anyone else feel like this? Or have similar views?

I feel the same in a way. I hope it performs better then the first game and Riptide.

When I pick up this game I feel like the things I'm looking for is playing with my friends, a mix of serious and rediculous things, the story is tacked on so that you are progressed through various environments, but this game was never meant to be like this mind blowing resident evil experience that has some statements to make.

With all of that said, I agree with you. While you are at the resort during the original Dead Island, everything is well done, built beautifully, organized and designed in this amazing format and then its just lost. The city is clunky and maze like, the forrest is barely exists and the prison is a one stop shoot em up shop. The game hits its peak at the beginning which is where they missed teh mark. Had I not had such a good time with my friends and a lack of care about what was happening around me I think I would have redesigned this to stay on teh resort and maybe have one spot outside of the resort.

Whatever happened to the refuges? What about all these beautiful landscapes and scenery, why not have multiple attacks on the base and learn more about the people on the island outside of some sort of box cutter character you play.

So, all in all, I do agree with you both, however, I believe the value and points of the game go to the clunky, the broken, the ridiculous, the hilarious, the none stressful pressure. Lets face it, you took some wire, a bottle of bleach and a knife and now you have an electrified military knife that should be strong enough to get you to where you toss a purple skull onto a mountain to unlock a God like blue print.

Highly recommend Dead Rising for fluid zombie killing
