The Last of Us Remastered: Gamespot and IGN reviews are in (videos here)

Basically most people are writing that if you've never played the game it's 10/10 get on it but other sites who didn't feel the same effect as others gave it 8/9 out of 10 saying amazing game but didn't have the same impact on a second play through. Should hopefully though get loads more people to experience this beautiful game and it is in 60fps so it looks so fluid and sexy!

Of course the reviews will also be high this game is a masterpiece and a future classic for sure. I'm hopping to play it on the PS4 too!

This begs the question, if a game does not have the same impact a second time around--is this even possible? A question for another day--does it deserve a perfect score?

I agree there.I havent played it yet and am still suprised IGN gave it a 10. If were new released now first time I understand.
If it comes out in 5 years as a re-remastered version on PS5 will they also give it 10 :p

10/10 is often reserved for masterpieces. Now the term "masterpiece" can be defined and often is defined differently from one person to the next. I understand giving a game a 10/10, but to change the score of a game to an 8 or a 9 because it does not offer the same experience the game had the first time around does not mean that game is a "masterpiece" by any definition of the word.

At least, for the first time in a while, IGN was being consistent.

I can see giving slightly different scores since the PS4 version is a technical improvement rather than anything really new. However, I'd say that you'd have to consider both versions masterpieces no matter what. It's not like the story is any different, even if the graphics are somewhat better on the Remastered version. The story itself should impact you similarly through subsequent playthroughs. It's always going to be an incredible story after all.

Unless you wanna get crazy and just play so many times that you never want to play again. I'd consider that a different situation, though!

I've never played (and wasn't considering it until the past week), but I think that due to all of the good reviews I've been seeing over the past couple of days, I might buck up and buy it. Regardless of any backlash and iffy-ness with debatable questions/answers, I think that if nothing else, I'll enjoy the game and come out of it with at least a liking of it - if I don't love it like some of the reviewers/my friends. Definitely excited that there's a remastered version- obviously the game was good enough to need a "second version", so that in and of itself is saying something, at least to me.
