The Most Unique & Innovative Games Ever Made For PS Consoles

I don't exactly know what would constitute uniqueness in a game, so this might be a little subjective. Nonetheless, I think it would be fun to look at the innovations that the PS systems and the game developers have made so far. So let's use this thread to discuss not only the games that we think brought something substantially new and amazing to the gaming market, and the things that make them noteworthy.

Personally, I think Tomb Raider and MGS for the PS1 really surprised a lot of people. I never really got how unique it was at the time, but I got to see my friend's faces light up as we played through each stage of Tomb Raider gradually getting more serious with each succeeding stage. It might have been the first time I really got to use a female character and enjoyed it so much that I couldn't picture it with a male character.

Other games that come to mind are Burnout, Twisted Metal, & Kagero.

Your thoughts?

I think Vagrant Story could be considered as one of the most unique games ever made for the PS 1. It shied away from the usual turn-based system of RPG games but it also was not a standard action RPG. It was more than that. There was a lot of strategy involved in the gameplay. The story was also quite engrossing and it had the ability to suck players in for hours.

I think Metal Gear Solid is the most innovative. It elevated the action adventure genre into previously unknown heights. It gave players a lot of thrills and excitement while maintaining an absolutely incredible storyline.
