The progression of Naughty Dog

Has anyone else noticed that the Naughty Dog games seem to have progressed in such a way that you can kind of see the influence from title to title? I've been watching my friend play through the Jak & Daxter games and I've been noticing a lot of gameplay elements that were taken straight from the Crash Bandicoot games. For instance, there are parts in the game where you are outrunning a large enemy, and many of the running animations are the same; the POV, the pitfalls, everything looks like it's been pulled straight out of a Crash Bandicoot game. It's harder to find these kinds of elements in games like Uncharted, but I just think it's cool to see how this company has progressed through game development over the years, throwing in little notable gameplay elements or easter eggs along the way.

Have you noticed any other notable signs of the steady progression from their humble beginnings to where they stand in the gaming industry now?

I admire Naughty Dog as a game developer. They're very talented and I'm a fan of all their games. Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot are both platform games which explains why they kind of play similarly. However, Uncharted and The Last of Us are action-adventure games which is why they seem to be a huge departure from their past games. One thing is obvious though, the games of Naughty Dog has constantly been improving. I can't wait to see what their games for the PS4 would be.

Agreed.

They've proven themselves to be one of the greatest developers of the modern era of gaming. I can't wait to see what they come up with next. I haven't had a chance to play The Last of Us yet, but from what I've heard, I definitely need to do so soon. I'm just proud to be able to say that I've been there from the start and I can see the progression of their games first hand.

Now that you say it, i can pretty much see it. First it was all cartoony, with a anthropomorphic animal as the main character, but then they went with a more human main character, but not quite, being still a fictional race. Then Uncharted was totally real, but still with a lot of action involved, and finally they ended up with a realistic approach to the virus infection.
