Thief Losing Quicktime Events

It seems due to critics and fans alike complaining Eidos Montreal is getting rid of all QTE in Thief. It's pretty surprising to see the wave of developers and corporations changing things due to fans on the internet. They commented about it on their blog but it seems pretty clear that there will be no QTE's in Thief.

Thats awesome because i HATE quicktime events in games. I understand why they do it. Its an opportunity to tell a story a certain way while having the user feel like theyre still a part of the story instead of an audience. Doesnt change the fact that its annoying though.

Can't say I miss them either. Most QTEs in games are incredibly pointless and feel tacked on, it's one of those things developers do simply because everyone else is doing it. I don't mind QTEs that are actually somewhat challenging and have a gameplay purpose, with proper failure states and timing, but putting them in the middle of cinematic moment and every single attack your character has is just downright annoying and bothersome.

I'm not that big of a fan of them either but they can work if the dev knows what their doing. Although the examples of great QTE aren't that big, but there are those that do exist. I guess gamers are just so sick of them that the Thief devs had no other choice if they wanted the game to do well. However we don't know if the QTE's were any good or how many there actually were.
