Those who want a PS4, but didn't pre-order, what is your plan on obtaining one?

So I didn't learn my lesson with the Wii back in 2006, and I figured that I'd wait on getting the PS4 after the launch. With all this buzz about the PS4, I want one now! And I didn't pre-order so I haven't had a chance to get one.
What is your plan if you are in the same situation as me?

I'm just waiting for the dust to settle and see if it's worth picking one up new. Plus the European release isn't around for the next couple weeks, so if I really wanted one I'd have to import it from the US and hope that it works. If everything checks out, I'll probably be buying one around Christmas (especially with all the sales). Otherwise, I'll just wait for a newer model or skip out on it. I'm not really bent on having a console either way.

Best thing to do is just ask everywhere you go. Everyone will get more in stock so you will get one don't worry about it. If you are really that pressed on having one you could always buy one of ebay! That'd be crazy expensive though. You should also make a friend that works at one of the gaming stores so they can hold one for you. It's always good to have an in!

I'm more in the mindset with Rogue. I can wait it out until things clear up/more games roll in. Being in your situation though, I'd go with Shana's suggestion. It's best to have a hook up to hold a console for you.

...then there's always van PS4s. You won't have the box or artwork and they'd give you the console in a plastic bag, but you'd have a PS4.

I never and there are plenty of other people on the board who agree with me, never buy a console on launch. There's always unforeseen hardware and firmware issues that I don't want to deal with. There's also server issues and the launch titles usually aren't very impressive as we see now. Just wait for the price drop, Sony to fix the issues, and more titles to come out in the next year before you buy it. Sure you won't get some of the deals that are happening now, but you'll have a PS4 at less, more games to play when you get it, and none of the launch hassles.

I'll probably wait for FFXV and see if it's good.
If it's as great as it looks, then I'll probably buy the PS4 because that's the only game that I REALLY want to play on the PS4.

Unless something that I can't wait for comes out, and nothing like that is happening until next year, then I can afford to wait until the price drops and a lot more consoles are in stores. Besides you can still find PS4's if you know where to look for them. Most people go to stores like Best Buy and Gamestop or online where you won't find one. But there are places like Walmart where people constantly forget to look. I think even Target and I here Costco has them.

I had a friend desperate enough to buy one from CL, still sealed though.

I'm a tech junkie so I had to have one on the launch date. Luckily, I haven't had any issues with any of my Sony launches. But I did have the overheating issue with the 360.

I was going to pre-order one, but to be honest I'm not in a rush. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have one and I'm really looking forward to getting mine, but I have a lot of games I'd like to complete on PS3 beforehand and also a few that still haven't even been released yet. Plus, if I wait a few more months then more games will be out on the PS4 and the price should be quite a bit lower.

It really is best to wait unless you want the PS4 to fiddle around with sometimes while waiting for more games and playing your PS3.

I got one at a discount on craigslist because some guy tried selling his for 800 dollars, I told him no one will buy it because of all the faults. Somehow he told me "Well what's your offer?" I said 300 and I waited a couple days and he said "No one is buying mine, I got it for free so an extra 300 is fine by me" So I told him I'd trade him a headset and my old capture card if he lowered it to 200. BUT the f'n thing got the blue light thing and I'm afraid to fix it... so I might either fix it and sell it or just sell it and wait a few months. I want to enjoy the ps4 not watch it sit there doing nothing.

I am in no rush to get a PS4. Of course I can't wait to get my hands on one, but I thought it would be best to enjoy the PS3 a little more first, and wait for the price of the PS4 to drop also. I know that my PS3 will start gathering dust as soon as I buy one, so I think it's good that I play GTA 5 until the right time comes.

I think comparing the PS4 launch to the Wii launch isn't very correct. The Wii was something really out of the ordinary, people got killed or hurt over it, others would sell the damn thing for double the price... it was crazy! Seeing how the games lineup is not that big, i don't think we have to worry about running out of consoles. Maybe a week or two, but not for months.

I had my PS4 pre-ordered right after they announced everything at E3, but I had to cancel it in August because I really needed the money. What angers me the most is by the time the system came out, I had the money no problem. Now, I am just playing the waiting game :(

If you're reasonable then it's pretty easy to get a PS4. I'm waiting for the next launch of them because the current ones have so many issues. But for anyone who wants one now, a little research will get you a PS4. Everyone always goes to BestBuy and GameStop without considering other stores that they can buy games from. If a store sells video games then there is a really good chance that you can also buy a PS4.
