Too quiet Multiplayer Lobby

Is it me or does nobody chat in the online multiplayer lobby or even chat while in gameplay? At first, I thought it was my mic or I was in a party chat room, but that wasn't the case. Does this game support online multiplayer chat?

I'm pretty sure it does, I know when I was playing it with at my friends house, we were using the mic, though we only ever got any response every couple games from about one person.

I just picked this game up on New Years eve, and I am waiting for my bonus at the end of Jan. to buy a good headset. Right now I just use my Beats ear buds for the audio through the controller. I tried the supplied ear bud set, but they kept falling out of my ears and I just got frustrated and put them back in the box in the closet... LOL

I don't ever chat in the multiplayer lobbies. First, I get crap because I'm a girl and second, there always seems to be annoying kids on there screaming, so I usually just keep my headset off until the match starts.
