Triton Kunai Multi-Platform Headset

So I picked these bad boys up last night for $74.99 from Best Buy. I like the look of them. I didn't want to spend over 100$, and there was not a massive selection available for PS4 compatible headsets so I picked it up (the white version, not the pink one that is out there! Haha).

First, I love the PS4 but hated the stock ear piece/mic that it came with. But I do applaud Sony for trying to make the console more social.

The unit can either be plugged directly into the controller, or into a USB cable/volume control unit directly into the PS4.

Please note: That if it is plugged directly into the controller there is NO capability to adjust volume levels

I tried both ways and they work fine for me. However, if you plug it into the USB port/volume control it does get significantly quieter. I had to adjust the volume setting to max in both the Device menu of the PS4 and the game menu (Battlefield 4) and it was at a decent level (nothing overly loud but just right).

Sound quality is fantastic, and I tested the microphone with some friends and they said the mic quality was great (100% better then the stock one that comes with the console).

If you are looking for a wired, 'middle of the road' headset without spending over 100$ I would suggest the Triton Kunai. There are a lot of good options over the $100.00 price point, but some people don't want to spend that kind of money, and frankly, you can get a good pair for over $50 but under $100 (the Triton Kunai is a good example)... And no, I am not a Triton employee :) Haha. Just find these bad boys pretty good for what I paid :)

One last thing... The microphone is detachable from the headset.. So you can use it as stand alone headphone if you don't plan on using a mic (maybe listening to music?), or connect it if you are going to game it up.

Nice, and Tritton are a top brand.
Is this your first gaming headset? Only asking cause I noticed its stereo model.
Not trying to be big headed or anything and I also know you also bought it for a price point but once you go true surround headset stereo doesnt quite cut it anymore,I mean the actual sound is no doubt great from this model but with true surround you hear actual directional sound much better.

That is a deal breaker for me, not being able to remove the mic from the headset, but looks like i won't be having problems with that one. I ain't big on Triton products, but they seem like a good brand nowadays.

I've had a few Turtle Beach ones (had one for my PS3, one for my Xbox and one for my PC). The sound on this set seems pretty good compared to what I had.

Unforunately, Best Buy where I am did not have a huge selection to choose from to begin with.. It was this, or under it was a Rocketfish 25$ headset for PS4 (I have that one too actually, got it on release day just for something better to use until my next paycheck). Then above it was a 129$ then the 149$ PX...4.. I think, drawing a blank right now.

I couldn't justify spending more then 100$ right now, and these serve the purpose very well.

That being said, there is some MASS confusion on what is PS4 compatible out there right now.. Nothing is marked for PS4 (I think of the 30 kinds they had for various consoles, etc... only 3 were marked for PS4 specifically). Not driving for 30 minutes to buy something that may or may not work, only to have to spend another hour+ returning it, etc...

These Triton's are solid though if you want a middle of the road. I have no complaints about the sound, seems great.

Think you are reading something backwards, you can remove from the headset on this unit.

i got the same headset from amazon but mines doesn't have ps4 sign on the front of the box, i recorded a message so i know the voice is working but im not sure i can hear other people speak (no one i know has a ps4 so i can test it in party chat) am i suppose to connect the headset to the remote or to the volume control pad? i have it on the pad and the usb plug to the ps4, but the ps4 doesnt use a/v cables to plug in the a/v of the headset

can someone send me a party invite or something?

psn: REAPING_STATIC

Hmm mine said PS4 on it.

The unit connects right into my controller if I don't want to use the control device.

If I want the volume control device, that plugs into the USB port, the headset plugs into it, and there was another cord that goes from the control to the controller.

I have had no issue with people hearing me

In your honest opinion, should I get Turtle beaches or just the one you are using right now? What are the negatives and postivites of the Triton Kunai Multi-platform headset?

Did you buy it on sale? If so, how much are they now? I am very interested so help me out here!

I did not get them on sale.. Full price.

My sisters boyfriend got a pair of... Errr.. I want to say.. PX4 or something? They were 150$. He is returning them, he hates them, too many issues.

The only downside to what I got now is that the control device is seperate and isn't very loud if you plug it in that way (I don't, so it doesn't really matter to me).

Helppppppppppppp

I can't hear the game sound and it's still too low
