Trophy Hunter Or Just For Fun

Well was chatting to a mate and he said that my trophies were a bit lacking and that I'm clearly not very good at gaming.

After caning him on Resogun at all difficulty levels and then winning 3 matches on the bounce in Fifa he decided maybe I was okay at gaming actually!

I then told him that as I'm now probably a casual gamer I don't actually dedicate time to win trophies but prefer to play the games in my own way.

I guess it's fun to brag against your mates who is the better gamer but for me it's about finding time to enjoy a game rather than to grind the same thing over and over again to get a trophy.

So what does everyone else think - Trophies or LOLZ?!

Fun! And as many trophies is some sort of singleplayer thing, I don't earn them. I play multiplayer almost exclusively. Some games are ok as singleplayer, but it's just more fun for me to play multiplayer.

i've always played for fun, being new to ps4 i'm enjoying trying to collect trophies too though, gives you things to try and achieve other than just the main mission of getting through the game.

never played multiplayer, i will wait til i'm a lil bit better before trying that hehe

Although they aren't that important I like to get trophies they help me to feel important and somehow give me a sense of a high and help me to feel like I am actually doing something good with my life. LOL I know it sounds weird but it is something that I like to do in my spare time. I just like the sound that you hear when ever you win a trophy.

I'm playing just for fun. But if the game is really good and the truphy are challenging, I will try to get Platinium. I won't spend more time on a game that i don't enjoy.

Pretty much my thoughts.

I used to be big on trophies. I only managed to get about 6 platinums (one of them being Red Dead Redemption which I am very proud of) but decided to start fresh and make a new account for the PS4. Oddly, I don't really care about trophies since being on the PS4. Weird.

Both are good, but I prefer to just play and don't pay much attention to the achievements. If the game interested me enough to the point of obsession, then I'd maybe consider it, but I don't find games like those too often. It's a fun little addition, though, and I certainly welcome it as an addition to the video game standard.

Nah, I've never played for achievements. Even though I was happier when I achieved something in the game, I've always played it for the fun.

In my childhood and teens, I used to take my gaming more seriously and used to compete with my friends for trophies e.t.c. I started to grow out of that phase when I was around 16/17 when I learnt to simply enjoy games rather than playing them to achieve 'one upmanship'. I simply couldn't be bothered any more.

Today at the age of 29, I really couldn't be bothered about all of that any more. It's long left my system as I have other priorities in life. I don't see the point in trophies/achievements really, as it's immaterial. I play games because I want to. If I'm good at it – so be it. I'll buy more. If I'm bad it at – so be it. I won't bother with that title/series or genre again unless something really takes my fancy. I play games for the gameplay and storyline they offer to me, as a single player, above everything else.

I've never been interested in online gaming (that won't change until I get a PS4 and even then I'm going to be hard pushed if it involves much more effort than just 'plug in and go') and multiplayer games to me involve a friend coming around for a two player, split screen game. Sadly in this respect, people like me are a dying breed. It's scary at how quickly it's happened too.
