TV services through the PS3.

Does anyone use the PS3 services through the PS3 like youtube, bbc iplayer, itv player or 4OD? That sort of stuff. Also does anyone use netflix or lovefilm? How much gb of internet does it use as I only have a monthly limit of 40.

I'm not sure how much bandwidth it takes, but I did find a helpful guide for this on Netflix. Here is a rundown:

"If you are interested in setting a limit on how much data our service will use, you can adjust your video quality setting. Navigate to Netflix.com/VideoQuality to manage the amount of data you use when playing movies and TV shows on Netflix.
There are 3 settings to choose from:
Good quality (uses up to 0.3 GB per hour)
Better quality (uses up to 0.7 GB per hour)
Best quality (uses up to 1 GB per hour, up to 2.8 GB per hour if watching HD, or up to 4.7 GB per hour if watching 3D)

Generally speaking, streaming services aren't a great idea if you've got a limit or cap. You might want to think about switching to better internet service if at all possible. If not possible, I'm...sorry. :(

People still have limits on their connections?
Well, if you are planning on something like streaming, you are pretty much screwed or limited to watch things in a blur of colors. So save your money and get a better service.

With all due respect, I think it would be wiser to just download them off the internet on your computer.

At least when you download, you already have an idea on how much GB you have spent unlike when streaming, you aren't sure if you'll be able to watch an entire episode since you only have a limited internet plan.

Unless you switch to a better (and perhaps unlimited) internet plan, streaming on your PS3 is not a good idea. ;)

Peace bro!

I think that you should just use the wifi in you PS3 to just download the files directly into and then watch it after it's done. I've been doing this for a while now and I can watch the same episodes multiple times... and it's better in the long run!

You have a limit on your service? Who is your service with? I would recommend changing it! I'm sure you can find something without a limit for a reasonable price as well. I can't have a limit. And if your planning on streaming though netflix or you tube or anything you need the limit removed. There is almost no way you would stay under your limit playing games online, doing whatever else you do on the internet, and streaming.

Yes, I do use the TV services through my playstation 3. TV services are very interesting but consumes a lot of internet bandwidth. It consumes nearly a GB for two hours of continuous TV service usage. I do not use its TV service regularly as I have too got a limit of 50GB on my internet connection. I guess watching a television instead of using the TV services on playstation 3 a better and cheap option.

I can't remember if I ever had a download limit on my internet. I use Netflix on my PS3, and I honestly prefer it to the 360 Netflix app. The P33 app seems to have more functions, but in all fairness, the 360 app could have been updated.

I use mainly Netflix. Unless you're ISP caps your usage at anything under 40gb then you shouldn't have to worry about your usage.
And Netflix is the only TV service that's worth paying for in my opinion. It's too easy to download a torrent and watch it on my PS3.

I use Netflix a long with many other PS3 users. It's much more convenient for me to use my PS3 rather than my PC. It really sucks for people with bandwidth caps though, I would hate to have one. I'm pretty sure I use up more than 500gb of data a month.
