Use PS3 Digital Output Cable on PS4?

Two part question...has anyone used the digital output cable for audio output? also, can you use the labeled "sony digital output cable for ps3" on the ps4?

I'm not a home but i'm almost positive its the same cable. As all devices need the same optical output cable. I can confirm as soon as i get back in. Writing this off my smartphone.

Yes you can. A digital optical cable is a digital optical cable. they are all the same

A digital audio cable is like an HDMI... universal for input... Not like the component hookups that have one input to y/r/w patch cords... Mine is ran from Digital into conversion box into analog dist amp(used to send audio to multiple sources)... HDMI into splitter... As long as control doesn't get out of range, i can play and hear my PS4 on all 12+ HDTV's in my house and shop(embarrassing typing that... ha)... Only 4 are 4K though... Given the option, always go with analog(red and white) RCA patch cords... There is a reason top equipment,ex. Top Notch Amplifiers, don't have digital inputs... If I had one TV, one pre-amp or receiver set-up, I'd run HDMI into TV and Digital into Analog conversion if using pre-amp with an amplifier and large speakers... Just use Digital out if using an out-of-the-box system... Remember there IS latency when using digi sound... look at Rocksmith(had to get a game where being a REAL guitar player was an advantage...ha)-impossible to play using digital outputs because of lag... I bought 30 conversion boxes after I bought 15 Sony Blu-Ray players before I found out they had done away with Analog outputs on their devices... need one?
