In order for me to afford my gaming habit, I can't afford to be addicted. Otherwise I'd let my work go and then I wouldn't be making any money, which would lead to my not being able to afford my gaming habit! It's a vicious circle
I'd say it negates. As far as actual addiction I always felt there could've been something to help manage your gaming time to prevent marathons on some days you could set. I mean there's a porn app, something for anime, movies, etc. there could be a vaguely useful app or function that wasn't solely entertainment based.
In some ways i am addicated i usually play 1-2 hours every day, the wife likes watching me plus she usually goes on the tablet, gaming has been a huge part of my life and is one of my major hobbies, it's an addiction but one that never gets a little out of control.
I wouldn't say I was ever addicted to gaming, but I sure did get addicted to some of the games I played. There will be times when I discover a game or two that I absolutely just have to finish, and I think if a game manages to make me feel that way then it would surely be deserving of the time and attention I put into it, but I never really found myself needing to play just for the sake of it.
The only time I really felt addicted to gaming was when I felt that people were judging me for playing a bit too much. But, to be honest, I never played that much. At most (during my prime haha), I'd play maybe up to 3 hours a day. My dad would say that I was wasting my time, so that would get to me a bit and then I'd feel addicted. But, I believe Lennon said it best, "time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time".
The first time I experience video games I was so addicted. The first time I played in a PS1 I'm just shaking man, I would ran up to my friend and I would just beg him to let me play with his PS1. But eventually I just grew out of it, I barely play games anymore.
When I first started gaming got carried away with it, mainly from the newness of it. After awhile I came back to reality and have changed my gaming habits considerably. I don't play all that much anymore and I am a happier person because of it.
I went through a fun, but terrible time in my life where my whole entire life consisted of video games and eating at my computer. I was without a job and had pretty much no responsibilities, so I spent all of my time sitting in front of a computer competing away. I think I could consider that a video game addiction-time in my life. ha ha.
I currently feel as though I am addicted to Dark Souls II. It's not that I spend insane amounts of time playing it, but the only two things I'm playing at the moment are Dark Souls II and Borderlands 2 on Vita when I can't play DkS2. The combat is just so good that I find it hard to play any other RPG (the only other game that compares is Dragon's Dogma) and I'm just making so many silly character builds that I keep playing it just messing around.
Ah well, I'll probably stop playing abruptly at some point. I doubt it'll last long enough for my future addiction (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax) to come out before I drop DkS2.
I really enjoy gaming and always have. It is easy to get overly involved in the games but I can't do it at the expense of other areas of my life. I have to work and I do have responsibilities. I have had times when I was playing it too much but when you add other interests in your life it is easier to be unaddicted.
