Virtua Fighter

Have you played Virtua Fighter for the PS3? It's one of the best 3D fighters to ever grace a console in my opinion. It's very simple - it only uses 3 buttons. There's a lot to learn in Virtua Fighter and though it's simple, it's hard to master. The steep learning curve could possibly have been the reason why this game has not caught on more with the Tekken series. Personally, I prefer Tekken over VF. But VF is still a game that's worthy of your attention.

I've played Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and quite liked it, but unfortunately that's all the experience I have with the series. I've often though about trying out the original Virtua Fighter 2 on PSN, but just never gotten around to it.

I used to play the old Virtua Fighter games on the PS2 but I never really got into the series and I never played any of the games on the PS3. Not sure , why but there was never much hype around that game when I was growing up. Everyone would be playing Mortal Kombat or Tekken and Virtua Figther would just be gathering dust. Are the modern games any good? How well do they compete with other games like Mortal Kombat?

I have that game. Thankfully, I grabbed it off PS Plus when they had it up the first day the Instant Game Collection was announced. Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is great. And you can tell that game was custom built for tournament play both online and off. Content wise, it doesn't compare to many of it's competitors. But it's unmatched when it comes to competitive aspects.

Yeah. I enjoy Virtua Fighter but as you already said, it isn't as hardcore like Tekken series. Personally, I'm a mad fan of Tekken but love playing Street Fighter, Dead or Alive series as well. Looking forward to the new Namco Bandai title Tekken vs Street Figther which should be awesome. Virtua Fighter is better suited to relax a bit and is very easy for new players to learn what fighting games are all about. Maybe, I should suggest this one to my friends who are new to the genre. Thanks for reminding me!
