What are your top three reasons for having a PS3?

Everyone has their own reasons for owning a console be it Xbox or PS, but what exactly are your reasons for it? I want to see if they match up to some of the arguments you see on the inevitable "My brand is better" thread that I luckily haven't see here yet. I will that my own reasons were 1. Brand loyalty, 2. Bkup in case of RROD, and 3. It was on sale. So what about ya'll?

Well, my initial reasons for getting a PS3 over LBP were Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, and Playstation Home. Despite never playing Playstation Home :/

As for now? Well, the exclusives, price, and the fact that more Japanese 3rd party games are on PS3 I guess.

The PS3 exclusives like many Japanese RPGs and games studios Sony.

Then the online mode is free accessbile. I do not wanna hear that Xbox is better, because the only game that lag is Call Of Duty which did its dedicated servers. The only frustrating detail are the maintenance of the PSN.

The PS3 also has the Playstation Plus that offer free games.

But really, I like the type of games coming out on PS3, so I like the PS3.

The Exclusives. Sony make absolutely phenomenal exclusives which is why I think a majority of people purchase a PS3.

Free Online. Who doesn't like free online? I know people say the Xbox has better online service and all, but having been on both consoles for a while, I see no difference.

Blu-ray. Have always wanted a Blu-ray player and thought a long time ago, might as well get the whole package with the PS3.

I think my top 3 reasons would be a lot of peoples reasons.

I think the obvious answer is the games themselves, but that isn't the only reason. A big reason I bought my PS3 is because I wanted a Bluray player, but I figure I may as well get one that plays games (among other things) too. I also wanted to stream Netflix without a subscription to anything, since I'm already paying for Netflix itself. That's about it, though; I don't really need to justify having a PS3 at the end of the day.

Here are my three reasons:

  • Free Online Multiplayer- I'm not really that hardcore of a console player, so I don't really want to be paying every month if I might not play at all during that month
  • Blu Ray Player - Saves me buying a separate one
  • Better Marketing Practises Than Microsoft - It just seems that Microsoft has always been a dick to its customers and Sony seems to care more

Well, I think one of the reasons is because of the system's awesome exclusives as that is what I love about Sony. They have such a wide variety of games that there is something for everyone. I know that PS4 is close to being released but the PS3 is ending on a good note, as Kingdom Hearts will be getting two HD remakes along with Final Fantasy X/X-2. Never been a better time to own a PS3 than now.

Here are my top three reasons that I wanted a Playstation 3:

The Playstation 3 has a Blu-Ray player built into it----Let’s get the most obvious feature out there first. Both the Xbox 360 and Wii operate off of older disc technologies, and the PS3 is the only gaming console that offers a Blu-ray high definition disc drive. This plays out to be two distinct advantages for the PS3 -- Blu-ray movies and Blu-ray games. DVDs are on their way out, and Blu-ray is the new standard for video. Blu-ray discs also hold more data, so the PS3 has to use fewer discs for games. Finally, every PS3 supports 1080p video, upconverts regular DVDs to look better on your HDTV, and has an HDMI output (necessary for the highest quality HD signals).

The PS3 Has Great Games To Satisfy the Mainstream and the More Discerning Gamer------The PlayStation 3 has the support of Japanese developers and online boutique developers that the other two simply don’t have. Sure the Xbox 360 has Halo and the Wii has Mario, but the PS3 has equally good exclusives in Metal Gear Solid 4, God Of War III, LittleBigPlanet, and the greatest driving game ever, Gran Turismo 5.

In addition, consider the unique Japanese and indy titles that only the PS3 gets. From Pixel Junk Monsters, Flow, EveryDay Shooter, The Last Guy, and LocoRoco Cocoreccho!, to software that’s more like interactive art than games, such as Tori-Emaki, Flower, and Linger in Shadows, there are simply odd and wonderful things that exist on the PS3 that don’t on the other systems.

Online Gaming Is Free and Easy------
Online gaming on the PS3 is both easy and free, with no extra fees or complicated friend codes required. The PS3 also offers a unique and free virtual world called Home, where you can chat, hang out and play games with other PS3 owners. Much like the Xbox Live Achievement system, the PS3 has a Trophies system that allows you to earn awards as you play games and compare how you’ve done against other players.

and that is my three reasons on why I wanted the Playstation 3 and that is also the three reasons that I got the Playstation 3

Well firstly my family has used it for just overall use of the machine.

We got it mainly because it had the games we wanted to play. I really enjoy playing Little Big Planet, and eventually a lot of games came out that I have really enjoyed.
As of lately I seem to use it mainly for watching my Blu-ray movies or using Netflix since it's so full of everything I could want.
I really like that it had free online so when we got around to actually using it we didn't have to spend any extra money on playing games online.

I got mine mainly because of the exclusives (GOW, Infamous, ect) and not having to pay to be online. I've had Xbox for about 5-6 years and I find the PS3 experience much more enjoyable to me in my opinion. So the last reason is basically I got sick of my Xbox 360.

1. For playing games and having fun. That's the main reason most people buy a console, to just have fun playing the games.
2. Exclusives, Sony has lots of exclusives that are extremely good, and since they are exclusives, it means they will be good and utilize most features of ps3 and not just be a last minute port.
3.No extra costs, in xbox you have to pay for lot of other stuff, like controller battery's, online, etc.

Because:
1. I'm a Sony fanboy by heart. I loved the PS1 and the PS2. That's why I bought a PS3 in the first place.
2. The exclusives. Sony has been dishing out a lot of quality exclusive games for over a decade. I knew that the company would continue with the excellent exclusives on the PS3
3. I love the dual shock controller. Enough said.

Besides playing the games for fun:

1. It's actually my main blu-ray player
2. It satisfies my fix for Japanese RPGs that you cannot find anywhere else.
3. Brand loyalty since the first Playstation.

I think the main reason that I got mine, was because everyone else had a console and I saw the Ps3 as the better purchase. It also had great exclusives such as the uncharted series, and of course a better piece of hardware altogether. Also at the time of me purchasing my PS3, it was on sale for a price of just £200 and it came with a free game + a free blu-ray movie which was awesome. If you ask me, with the amount of reasons why you should have a PS3, it would be far quicker to ask why you shouldn't get a PS3. There are hardly any reasons why one shouldn't get a PS3 except that you get the Call of Duty DLCs a month after Xbox.

I guess I am loyal to Sony, but not over Microsoft or Nintendo. I use more than just Sony's game consoles, though. Microsoft has kind of been a necessity in the past, what with their computer software being pretty much standard with most major companies.

1. It's a pretty good brand and I dislike the alternatives
2. I like its interface
3. I can stream movies
bonus: It was cheaper by the time I bought it :D
