What do you think of the new Dualshock4 controller?

These are just some of my quick thoughts. It definitely looks different and I heard it fits better in your hands. I don't really know about the whole share button feature, I think most people are just going to spam it short and unprofessional clips but then again I might be wrong. The touch pad sounds like a cool idea but I'm doubting the community embrace it. They might reject it and label it as a minor annoyance to the hard core gamers. But the PS4 isn't out yet so we'll soon see if people like the controller or not.

I've decided I'm not going to make any opinion on the new controller until I actually use it. There is so much talk about it that I've just ben trying to block it out since so much of the talk is not even true and opinion based. I'm sure it will be great though it's made by Sony!

I mean I think the new dualshock 4 looks a little different. Although it is too early to make a great opinion on the controller, but by the looks I can. This year's controller is a great step-up from what we are used to seeing. I mean in the past every controller update looked exactly the same.

I hope the share button asks you for a confirmation if you press it. If I had a nickel for every time I accidentally pressed a button on the controller I didn't mean to, like the PS button...

The shape is much more comfortable than the DS3. I being able to have the controller sit in my palms rather than on my fingertips. I love the texture on the back of the controller, it has just enough grip without feeling rubbery. The texture of the touchpad is also great, I feel much more in control of what I'm moving. The d-pad is even better than before and the triggers and analog sticks have vastly improved. I love it.

It still looks the same to me aside from the fact that they added a share button and a touch pad. I haven't held the controller myself but I think it's going to do a great job when I'll be playing KillZone or DriveClub or God of War. Still, I think the controller don't matter as long as the games get better.

I personally don't think I'd use the share feature, but I don't mind it being included. I wouldn't mind saving certain replays or gameplay portions to view later, but I don't usually come across anything worth sharing with others. I almost wish the touch screen was an optional feature, or that they would include a "cl***ic" controller along the lines of the Wii U and regular controller that can be bought separately. What I am looking forward to, though, is the feeling of the controller, which is something I think needed to be improved upon.

Looks like they have finally done away with the most useless button on Sony controllers since the first Playstation ...the select button :p

It looks a lot more "filled out" than its predecessors, and I think it's for the better. I personally never had any problems with the older controllers, even the triggers which apparently is universally hated, but I bet I will notice those little nuances once I get spoiled by this new controller.

It looks okay from the pictures and videos. The information is also great, I think a share button is a good enough addition, and the touchpad could be great, I just don't know how much I will use the share button and the touchpad.
It is said that it is bigger than the DS3 so maybe it is more comfortable when you are playing.

I will not make my complete opinion until I actually have played with it.

The share button is huge for me considering I do Let's Plays so now I'll be able to capture PS4 footage without the bother of getting a capture card. I read that the recording limit is somewhere between thirty minutes to an hour which is great.

Just bought one yesterday and was awestruck with the way it contour on my hands, not a little bulky like the xbox360 and not so flimsy like the ps3 controller, this controller is almost perfect for the casual gamer like me.

I will not lie and tell you that I have high expectations for the upcoming Duelshock4 controller, though I cannot be 100% sure for obvious reasons. We will see.

What do you really think of the new controller?

I hear a lot of *****ing about the redesign of the controller so I wanted to gauge other people's opinion on it. Personally, I'm fine with it, though I think the little touchscreen thing is gonna be more of a gimmick than anything and probably barely used.

I think it is fine. I agree on the screen thing though. I feel like they were trying to anticipate the Wii U and thought they needed to include it. Who know though, maybe some developers will find awesome uses for that screen.

I suspect the same thing about the touchscreen, but I'm guessing it will be used mostly for browsing online or their store. I personally think making it bigger was a good decision, when we get used to it, I bet the older controllers will start to feel cramped.

No I think it will be pretty useful. You have to remember they are trying to win over PC users. Having that touchpad will allow people who aren't used to a controller the ability to more easily navigate menus. Especially the ones where you have to type! I think we can all agree no matter how fanboy you are, typing sucks on a console.

I think the biggest improvement that Sony have made with the DualShock 4 is developing PC drivers for it. Part of the reason the Xbox 360 controller sold so much more than the PS3 controller is because it was PC compatible, whereas the DS3 needed third-party software to make it work with PC's and suffered from compatibility issues with a number of games. I think gamers will have an easier time justifying the price of the new controller if they know that they will be able to use it on their PC as well as their PS4. Of course, not everyone is both a console and PC gamer like me :P A lot of people prefer to have offset analog sticks so that their thumbs don't touch when playing, but the PS4 controller is larger than the PS3 controller and supposedly fixes this issue. I also think there's a lot of potential in the touchpad that we haven't seen yet (think of replicating some of the Vita's touchscreen controls).
