What games have been a let down.

I have just posted in the "What's your favourite game for 2014" thread, i then thought it would be interesting to hear members views on games that they were looking forward to that turned out to be a let down.

For me its -

Destiny - a great looking game that is initially great to play but soon turns out (a couple of weeks for me) to be repetitive and irritating especially the jump ship load screen.

Watch Dogs - i got this free with my console its not really my thing but i did try to like it and spent a bit of time playing it, it was sold soon after.

For me it would be...

Watch Dogs - I tried so hard to get into this game.

WWE2k15 - I'd rate it right up there with David Arquette's WCW title run.

Shadows of Mordor -same reason as Watch Dogs, just couldn't get into it.
 
Even though I didn't play much of it, I'd also say Watch Dogs. It just didn't grab me in anyway.

A close second would be Middle-Earth: Shadows of Mordor. Way too over-hyped!
 
I'd say shadow of mordor. Well it wasn't a complete let down but I'm not interested in playing it as much as I'm supposed to be.
Actually, infamous first light was a big let down. Never play it. Maybe I'll delete it today

Didn't enjoy InFamous: First Light? That's a shame. Did you enjoy Second Son?
 
biggest let down... get ready.... ALLLLLLL OF THEM !!!!

Here me out.

Reason is, in the hype build up for next gen consoles, we were bombarded with how much power the new consoles will have, how developers moaned about now they can be " let off the leash and do what they've always wanted to do with the new easier to use hardware and more power. blah blah blah...

and what do we get ?

Even more boring versions of the same stuff, just prettier! Been playing Killzone SP last few days, GOD this is boring. Infamous Second Son, is no where near as much fun as Infamous2. The best PS4 game is a HD remake of a PS3 game. The last of Us will be the best PS5! game when they do a HD remake of a HD remake.

HD remakes of Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, Metro, The Last of US.. on and on it goes...... ugh...

Then we have broken buggy games!

BF4 still aint' fixed. ALL of last week on gamespot they went on about So and so will release patch to fix bugs on, Far Cry 4, Assasins Creed, Halo Master chief, Drive Club, on and on THAT goes

So where are these NEW expereicnes developers ? Wheres the games that use this power to blow our minds ?

All i've seen this last year is, broken unfinsiheed games, HD remakes, boring the same as last gen content, higher prices, on my new shiney "more pwerful" this is for the players ( pah ) console..........

rant over....

and relax.

You do have a very good point. There hasn't been (and this is just my opinion) a single game I've played since having a PS3 that's made me drop my jaw and say "Wow - this is so next-gen!" And you're right, the best games have been HD re-releases (except for InFamous: Second Son - I do love that game)

I hope to God 2015 will be the year the PS4 finally shows it's true potential.

Another thing (see what you've done Blackadder! Now I'm ranting lol), ENOUGH RE-RELEASES! PLEASE! Unfortunately I don't see that going away. I mean we already have Saints Row IV and Dark Souls II on it's way next year.

Fresh new IP's please!
 
It have to be watchdogs I was so looking forward to this game well it felt like when you are a kid on Xmas day getting excited opening a present and it's a pair of socks what a big let down
 
I think a big issue is with the new consoles is....they are more like a stop gap almost.
PS4 is more like a PS3.5 I guess. The jump from PS3 to PS4 just doesnt seem as big as it was from PS2 to PS3,in all aspects,including the big point of graphics.

But I do agree on the HD remakes,as cool as it is to have some at first,I think this needs to stop right now and get on with making games purely for the new consoles.
 
you do realize Beyond Two souls will shortly be ANOTHER hd remake to add to the ever growing list.

Sleeping Dogs, The last of us, Tomb Raider, Metro Last light, Diablo, Halo Master Chief, Flower, Dark Souls, Saints Row IV, and later this year, Journey! ( like Journey needs a HD remake ???!?!?) Yakuza, Jak and Dexter, Resident Evil 2.. on and on it goes

Glad i'm not the only one to feel agreived at the lack of " wow " on my consoles both PS4 and Xb1. I've had more "WOW" this year on my PS Vita. Muramas Rebirth ( free on PS plus ) is just achingly the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. Child of Light the same. Remote play looks stunning.. on a hand held! WOW :)

Hate to rain on your parade, but PS4 exclsuives for 2015 are THIN!!!!

Uncharted 4, The Order, Bloodbourne top the list... after that though, it's Indie games which could be hit and miss... So 3 games ONLY for the WHOLE of next year to make us go wow. ....
 
I know Destiny will be mentiomed here a few times, but I'm still loving my hour or 2 I spend with it a day...

I wish Watchdogs did more. I really feel like it set up a solid foundation that could be built upon. But it was just so mediocre...
 
I really liked WatchDogs, it was a fun open world game. Each to their own. The biggest let down for me was Shadows of Mordor. Was really hoping for an Assassins Creed type game but in the world of Middle Earth. While it is that, it is much more of a button masher then any Assassins game is. I wanted to explore Gondor, or some other great city from that amazing world Tolkien created for us. I think that is the only one I have been let down by.
 
I would say watch dogs.. short and dlc is not worth the extra cash.. destiny despite my favorite is dancing on that let down line but due to it's depth in customization it's not on ly list.. Oh nba 2k15 no real improvement worth paying for
 
I'm gonna have to say Killzone Shadowfall, it all looked amazing from the demo video but idk why but when I played it, it didn't feel quite as pretty. Then there's GTA V next gen with the constant issues I've had since I bought it, terrible connection, won't save any of my preferences etc
 
Assassins creed 4 black flag, I was so excited for this and was having so much fun with it.... Till I encountered the unskippable/unplayable naval battle..... Tried numerous times on several occasions to get past it before giving up on the game completely.
Assassins creed 2 was so amazing I thought that 4 would be a good step to introduce me to next gen.... I'll never buy an assassins creed game again.
