What Happened To Rock Band / Guitar Hero?

Rock Band and Guitar Hero were a lot of fun and had a lot of potential, but as people said, buying the peripherals just got to be too expensive for a lot of people. I guess it was only a matter of time until they tanked, with the economy and all, but I'm glad they went as far as they did! They were cool while they lasted, I suppose, heh.

It got boring, I guess. People are looking to move their feet rather then fingers on a guitar that you are not even learning from.

A Rock Band Indie version would have resolved much of their headaches when it came to licensing and what not, with them giving Indie bands much needed spotlight and the fees would be much cheaper. Also something like spotify, where you are constantly connected to a large database of tracks to play, with the tracks you play being cut in on either ad-revenue or premium sales -- but this would have been near impossible to implement. People also just seem to have lost interest, to be honest.

The music genre is just a bit tired right now. There's only so much innovation they can put into Rock Band and Guitar Hero at this point. The peripheral problem isn't too bad because one instrument usually works for all the games. The bigger problem (where Guitar Hero is concerned) is the DLC. You have to constantly buy the DLC over and over with Guitar Hero. Rock Band's DLC works with all versions of the game.

I think it sort of died out after people played it too much, and didn't want to waste money on DLC, I remember when the only thing people used to be talking about was Rock Band and Guitar hero. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was cleaning out my house, and threw away the instruments for rock band, had it for ps2, and don't play it anymore.

I really enjoyed Rock Band, I thought it was a great game and played a lot of it for months on end and then after it reached a certain difficulty level were the amount of time taken to do well on some songs was greater than I liked and it became a bit of a grind for me in the end so I stopped playing, because the instruments took up so much so space in my room that I ended up just selling them it's a pity because they were great games. Hell they even expanded a little on the genre by making rocksmith but in the end the game just kind of fell from popularity for some reason.
