It's sad and unfortunate that such a great piece of hardware is falling wayside. As others mentioned here, the price is a big reason a lot of people won't buy the handheld, coupled with the fact, again as mentioned, there aren't any killer apps worth getting a Vita for. Despite that, most critics and gamers agree it is a great portable gaming device.
I just recently got a Vita and am pretty pleased with my investment. Paired with PS+ I had a small library already for me which I've been taking of advantage of. But to tell you the truth, the only reason I even thought about getting a Vita was the remote play feature of the PS4. As reported, all games that are created for the PS4 will be able to play on the Vita via remote play, which is not to be confused with the Vita acting as a controller, a feature that will not be available for all PS4 games. Remote Play is an awesome idea, another thing that sets the PS4 apart from the Xbox One. Hopefully this will get more Vita's in the consumer's hands and hopefully that translates to more gamed being developed for the Vita.
