What is the PS4 doing wrong?

I think their whole sharing idea is completely stupid. I don't want others to watch my gaming and be judged, I just want to relax and play on my own! I guess Sony just ran out of ideas there....

I actually think the sharing idea is good, for those who want to show the rest of their friends their achievements. But I agree with you, it's not a good setting to play games in when you know that you can be judged when you aren't playing so well or are just starting a new game. Hopefully Sony will add in an option to share your information when you want to, rather than keep it as a default.

I think because it is an option, then I have no quarrels with that. If it was mandatory, then that would of course be a big problem. Is it confirmed that this will be a default setting? I'm sure Sony will give us this as an option and not something that has to be abided by.

If it's an option, I don't see the point why you don't like it. It's a win-win situation, people that want to share their games can, and if they don't, they don't have to.

I would kind of agree with you. What i don't get is why they don't focus on games, you know, like the old times? It's all coll and all, but i want a console for games, not for sharing and talking.

If you don't want anyone else to see how you play your games, just don't select that option, that simple. It's not going to be set up in a way that everytime you turn on your ps4 and start playing your automatically being watched and judged by other ps4 owners lol.

Agreed. They might be just doing this to stay relevant to the upcoming generation that only knows a world with social media in it. I understand, but I just hope they don't end up alienating the people that gave them the funds to be relevant in the first place, namely - us.

Nobody is forcing you to share anything, its just an option you have. And what's all this talk about judging ? You're playing games! Not painting the Mona Lisa or building the Eiffel Tower, you're just enjoying some games! If you have friends, it might even be fun to share stuff with them.

I'm pretty sure that this sort of thing would be designed by a completely separate team which doesn't handle games whatsoever. In that respect, I'm sort of okay with this idea (as long as it remains an option) because it isn't taking away development time from the game studios. The fact is, gaming is now far more widely accepted in mainstream society than it was ten or even five years ago, and these types of features are just an example of how Sony is just responding to that trend.
